idk what to do here, nor how I got so far behind him in items. Died twice to him early in lane (yeah myb) so he came back with a hollow radiance by level 9-10 and after that I just couldn't fight him. My farm wasn't too far behind him (we were even in lane phase) and he only got the 1 more kill after he got HR.

my E just wasnt enough to get away from him, if I used it to dodge his QE then he'd ult and have his QE ready again after wards, plus the stun from his W.

I'm super rusty with Gwen overall but even then I'd struggle into Ornn.

I felt so weak compared to him even when I had 1 item to his 1 item + 1 component. I went void staff 2nd since he went so much MR only, but it took me basically the whole 27min just to finish 2nd item.

I spent so much of my time cc'd (at least 3sec every time) so I'm not sure what to do about my survivability. I had bone plating and unflinching, which I spent 92sec with bonus resistances from unflinching so I don't feel like it was bad it still just wasnt enough.

Should I just not try to fight him in the early game before items? I almost killed him once after I got DnD but that was the only time it was ever close. Or maybe I should have taken ignite or something more aggressive/defensive for summoner spells?

When they go AD (Katarina)

I've been learning Galio a lot more (thanks for existing Locke) but what I'm not as familiar with is when they go/end up more AD heavy, namely Katarina who can go either AD or AP.

If Katarina goes AD, and specifically builds BORK to shred high health, is hollow radiance worth it first still? It feels necessary for wave clear and to not go that first or to split my components (get some armor, then build it) feels like a bad delay.

Or do I go more AP bruiser instead then, rocketbelt, riftmaker, unending despair? Given BORK has life steal (and other healing champs on enemy team) if I go antiheal, Thornmail only applies while they are attacking me, so is oblivion orb better (Swain, Katarina, Nasus) because I can apply it off my own damage?

I probably trolled my build overall because I wasn't sure what to do. Was building into riftmaker next. Kata was obviously trying to nuke my Velkoz, so I was trying to babysit him for peel. But not sure if going full tank/front line is better, AP bruiser, or full AP/burst here (especially since from before load I can't be sure if she's going to be AD or AP Kata)

Enforcing No-AI: We Need Solutions, Regulations, and Methods of Application

Follow up to this first post: What updates do you want to see in our Generative AI Policy?

How can we effectively moderate and enforce no-AI?

We support the community sentiment of not allowing generative AI images, translations, and other content. However as our previous blanket rule of “No-AI Gen content” is proving to be too weak, unspecific, and equally difficult to enforce. We must then consider each form of AI content, and how we will regulate that. But the biggest issues are around verifying/identifying AI and proof. We don’t want to remove content only because it is suspicious, as that leaves too much room for error, and is harmful to the community if we remove content that isn’t AI because someone reported it, and we can’t be sure.

How can we verify what is and isn’t AI (in cases of ambiguity)?

A posted artwork containing 6 fingers is easy to spot and identify. But someone who creates a reading list, organization graphic, or writes a post using AI is going to be harder to determine. If a user writes a post containing an em-dash and is accused of AI, how can we verify that?

We would need an actual framework beyond, “it sounds like/looks like AI to me.” So what is our framework to determine if something ambiguous is AI? How many checks must it pass/fail and what do those checks look like across different media types?

Who carries the burden of proof for it being not-AI?

Do we remove a post based purely on suspicion of AI, or what kind of proof do we require? Is it the obligation of the poster needing to prove what they made/did isn’t AI, or, on the mods to gather evidence to prove/disprove AI usage?

If we must require proof, what does that look like? Including additional screenshots of the creation process? Providing metadata? How will the OP provide these things in a safe manner (to not self-doxx) in a way that satisfies the public? How will someone who submitted a text-only post provide proof that they wrote it by hand in the Reddit browser, and not ChatGPT?

We (the mod team) are only human volunteers and we can only do so much. It’s not realistic for us to be using the majority of our moderation efforts researching each user, each post, to confirm if it’s AI. Nor are we ever going to be 100% accurate at identifying AI for us to then go back and assure a comment section that a user did/didn’t use AI. Otherwise, we would have to seek more mods who’s only job is to constantly be checking for AI in posts.

The burden of proof should fall on the content poster.

Disclosure statements:

We recently updated it to require that all translation promotion posts require a “did not use AI/AI assistance” statement. Do we extend this to every post: artwork, organizational tools (excel docs, reading trackers, etc), basic text posts? We still face the issue of someone simply denying using AI/claiming that it’s not, which circles back to the issue of burden of proof.

Better Safe than Sorry: What is our margin of error?

If something ambiguous is reported or deemed to be AI, do we just remove it to be safe? What are the implications of that if it means we’d rather treat a work/post as AI and act based on that first, without enough proof? What if we remove more content that isn’t AI and was legitimate than what is actually AI because we're not able to determine it?

Consequences of AI

As it stands, if we find or suspect AI and the post is removed, that’s it. It has no steps towards a suspension or ban from our community, just that the content is removed and that they are informed of our AI policy. We must first assume someone has not read our rules/policies and is unaware, so we always start with a warning.

If we were to consider AI a “bannable offense” within our community, we would absolutely need a fail-proof way to verify AI usage, and consistent evidence. With piracy, we’re able to keep track of comments and links posted as part of our escalation process, and keep documentation along the way.

At this time we can’t reliably consider AI usage a bannable offense since we have no certain way to verify or enforce it otherwise.

We will continue to A. Remove the content and B. If the same user is repeatedly doing it, we can add them to a stricter filter which flags their content for additional mod review. We would be able to enforce that filter on a user-by-user basis even after post-queue is removed: Any post or comment by a specified user would still end up in our queue and require manual approval.

Scope of Moderation Power

We are only Reddit mods, and we can only moderate what happens in this community. We don’t follow a user’s social media profile on Twitter to determine if they are breaking rules on Reddit, and we don’t use their actions on Twitter to enforce a ban/punishment on Reddit. The proof/violation cannot be on another platform, because we don’t control that.

If they share a link to their website, art or other AI related content within our community, we can absolutely enforce our rules.

But if a user has an AI-Gen Reddit profile pic/banner, or posted AI content in a different Reddit sub, or on Twitter, we don’t have control over those spaces. The violation must occur on Reddit, in our community, for us to apply rules to it.

If that user posts in our community, we can’t ethically assume it is AI without proof. That is guilty by association, and, to say that we treat them as guilty from the beginning. But we also can’t use their Twitter post as proof they are breaking Reddit rules, because that is not a fail-proof method. It might it mean they are more inclined to break rules, or need to be watched more closely, but we can't use that as fool-proof evidence.

If we are going to take legitimate steps towards issuing any actions (warnings, suspensions, bans) then we must have proof to support that, and it needs to be from within our community.

AI related: Official Translators and AI

Then we run into a separate issue where some official publishers and licensing platforms are (verified) or may be (unverified) using AI as part of their translation processes. In a space where we encourage accessing official licenses, where does Official AI Translation fall?

Is promoting or posting about their licensed works also then considered AI content? Is that the fault of the poster, or the publication house?

We’re not sure how we’ll approach these yet, especially in a situation where (unfortunately) this practice may become more common.

Most likely, we will be requiring disclosure statements in this case:

"[Publisher] just licensed [Novel], but AI is/may be a part of their translation process."

Whether or not then users want to read/purchase that book can then be informed on the use of AI in that case.

Teemo interaction bug?

teemos passive: Innate: Teemo gains  invisibility after 1.5 seconds without moving, taking non- over time damage

I am ACTIVELY E'ing him. How does he go invisible here just because I stunned him with ult? I'd understand if it was just Q burn (maybe) but I E him and he still goes invis. E isn't affected by blind because it isn't an auto so it's not not doing damage.

I Q (which I would think the base damage of Q does not count as a DoT and then my E still casts and flies at him (does it not land because he does invis right before animation hits?)

Is this some sort of bug? I've picked Cass into teemo in the past and don't remember this issue, though its been a while since I've had this specific match up.

Reports showing in dupe/triplicate

From desktop there is an issue where reports are showing in duplicate or triplicate. We have some automod report functions in which it reports in triplicate. Earlier, a user's custom-report was reported in duplicate. Not sure how consistent it is with user reports, but its on all of our automod/automation reports. Is this a bug? It seems to have been a recent change where it wasn't happening before, and we haven't made any major changes to our reporting (added users/keywords but no major code change)

examples of what we're seeing, top image is automod, bottom image is user custom reports:

Dealing with Assassin Junglers

Any tips for dealing with assassin junglers? Blue Kayn will just one shot, but at least I can see him coming (for the most part). But it feels impossible with a Rengar, Khazix, or Nocturne on the enemy team. I can tell when I'm being Rengar ulted, but never from where since he can come from any direction so I can never throw my E in time (same with Khaz). And by the time I see them, it's just too late. I'm dead. Zhonya's works somewhat, if I'm say under turret it ruins their dive. But if I'm caught out of turret range, Zhonya's doesn't matter, they'll just kill me as soon as it wears off. Ult does nothing to help me get away, maybe I have a W sum picked up at best for some move speed.

And struggling to play around Nocts spell shield once he ults onto me. Even though he's right there I can't just throw E because of it, and then I'm feared and dead.

Is this just the plight of Zoe vs some of these junglers?

Unable to interact with some scheduled posts

https://imgur.com/a/VO7FPLe

Working from Desktop, I've tried two different browsers and cleared cache. But I can't click on either Self Promo Sunday or Merch Monday scheduled posts to make any modifications, but I can edit/update the other 3. It's not a permissions issue as I have full perms/created some of these. The two posts I can't edit are the ones that appear only if I chose "show more", otherwise they're hidden, which I feel has something to do with it, but don't know

Mod Update: Post Flairs, Translator Ethics, Publication Updates, and Defining Low Effort Posts

New Post Flairs

Over the last few months, we have been adding some new post flairs. While they are catching on, some of our new automation does regulate different flairs, so we want to try making sure everyone is using the correct flair more often than not. While mods can change a flair to correct it, there are some cases where it could delay your post or cause automod to not function properly.

Social - Looking for reading groups, meet ups, advertising/joining discords, or other means of socializing

Fan Translation - Any post asking about fan translations (that is not forgotten novel title) for topics such as where to find/read, discussing a translation, starting/advertising a work that you are translating (see below), plot questions/spoilers, etc.

Official Translation - Any post about a translation that is officially published, translation/publication quality, plot questions/spoilers, etc. This is to discourage “where to find/read” questions for official TLs.

Publication Updates - for official licensing announcements/updates only. Please do not use this flair when seeking fan translations or to ask if something is licensed. This flair specifically will continue to be filtered separately from other posts (see below) so using this incorrectly will delay your post.

Forgotten Novel Title/Resolved - Submitting your post with FNT enables the automod response for !resolved. Mods can manually update the flair to correct it if not applied, but it will not trigger the automod resolved option if mods change the flair.

With the more specific translation flairs, the discussion tag should hopefully be for broader conversations, like comparing novels or discussing broader themes about genres, tropes, and more.

PUBLICATION UPDATE POST RULES

Rule: Only 1 publication post per announcement/update

We created the Publication Updates flair to cover things like cover reveals, license announcements, and more, specifically aimed at official publication.

It has been a learning and evolving experience to try and handle this in a fair way, so here is how it works at this time:

If 5 users all submit a 7Seas cover reveal post, we will look at who posted first. We will approve on a first-come-first-serve basis, if the user has not already recently been approved for another recent publication update. If they have already had a recent post approved, we will go to the next user and cycle through a rotation. The mods post in a communication channel “Approved User - post” so that we can track who posted more recently and who is next. The cycle may not always be in order based on some users posting more than others. In that instance, we may prioritize a “less frequent” user.

It’s not a perfect system, sometimes communication gets missed, and so on. When the post queue is removed, we have new automations in place that will still specifically catch these posts and send them into a queue for manual approval (like the current system, but only for this flair). With this, our rule is that only 1 post is needed per cover reveal/announcement. This allows the conversation to stay in one place, and reduces post bloat for having 3-5 of the same post submitted.

We wanted to explain this process because we haven’t advertised it before and it has evolved to this state over the last year, so for some community members it’s not clear how these posts are prioritized for approval, nor have we ever stated the limit of only 1 post-per-announcement in order to reduce repetitive posts/post bloat.

If there is any feedback or questions about this process, please suggest or ask here as well. We do want to try and make sure everyone gets a chance, but competition is high, or we see the same 3 people so no one else tries to submit. Declining one post over another is never meant to be biased for/against specific users, but us trying to follow a rotation while “trying to give everyone a chance.”

New Fan Translation Promotions

Rule: If advertising your own fanTL, stating “This translation does not use AI or AI-assistance” is required.

A new rule we will be rolling out is some regulation around users advertising their new fan translations. We’re always excited to see something new, but unfortunately, AI is becoming more prominent. For transparency and to stay in line with our rules, if you are the translator and want to share your “just started translating this, check it out [link]” post, you must include a verifying statement: This translation does not use AI or AI-assistance. If your post does not contain this, it will be subject to removal/decline until it is revised. This is to discourage users who are using AI to translate while protecting the space for human translators. (We are considering MTL separate from AI, to be addressed further in the upcoming AI policy update). We’re aware this relies on the honesty of the translator, so may still be flawed if they attempt to claim an AI translation as human translation, but we will address those individually if/as they come.

COMING SOON: POST QUEUE REMOVAL

It’s been almost two years on the manual post queue now, and we’re taking some of the final steps to remove it. With the implementation of our removed topics list and minimum character requirements, we’ve been trying to target/limit low effort posts. Currently, all posts submitted to our community enter a queue where moderators decide on whether they are approved, rejected, or require additional revisions. This is in order to prevent an influx of posts that conflict with our existing EPUB and AI policies, and to minimize the amount of low-effort posts. This was put into place as official releases first began and changed the Danmei landscape online about the sharing of TLs, and the repetitive question of “what to read after MXTX”.

One of the consequences of the queue is that there are some posts the community will never be able to see because of our moderation practices. On one hand, the intention is to prevent rule breaking posts from being submitted. On the other hand, however, we run into the risk of overmodding or extensively controlling what the community can or cannot engage with. This is a point that usually arises when it comes to controversial or ongoing topics relating to moderation bias (e.g. debates around publication quality, opinion pieces about Danmei works, etc.)

We’re aware that moderators have a contradictory role where we are both at a distance from directly being a part of community engagement while simultaneously also filtering and curating the types of content that our community can fundamentally interact with. We acknowledge that sometimes we take this step back from acting as regular community members, primarily because the line gets blurred between what we say/do as a moderator vs what we say/do when not trying to act as a mod. But we still enjoy being a part of this community!

Sometimes it can be hard for us to act “in the best interest of the community”, so we need you to let us know what that looks like! Opinions may vary user to user of course, but we will do our best.

Low Effort Posts: What do you consider to be low effort?

Right now our requirements for posts are a minimum of 200 characters and flairs. We have non-mandatory reminders about using novel titles in posts for spoilers. We created the List of Removed Topics to address some low effort posts, but we want to know is that enough, too much, or just right? With the removal of the post queue, more low effort posts will be making it into the public feed before mods can intervene.

So we want to know: What do you consider to be low effort, or is asked too frequently in the community? Some examples that we’re looking to address:

  • Should I keep reading [Title] if I think it’s boring?/Does [title] get better?
  • Should I keep reading [Title] when I find the content disturbing?
  • Just finished reading [Popular licensed title] does anyone have similar recs?

And a more general question:

  • Do the rules and regulations in this community feel well balanced, not enough, or too much?
