260519 - Sister GG?
does anyone else think saint satine might be connected to a secret hybe x geffen UK group?
before i get started this may absolutely sound insane and yes this is very much “source: trust me bro / my uncle works there” territory but i’ve been thinking about this for DAYS and i need to know if anyone else sees it
so basically my cousin’s friend works in production in london (like actually around label people, not just making stuff up for clout) and he said there’s been lowkey talk for months about hybe x geffen building another localized global gg, but this time in the UK
and the thing that made me spiral is he specifically mentioned they’ve apparently been trying to avoid doing another full survival-show style rollout because of the backlash around Dream Academy
which lowkey makes sense??
like don’t get me wrong, Dream Academy gave us katseye and obviously it worked in terms of hype, but the audience reaction was kinda messy. people were constantly dragging the format, saying the eliminations felt weird, that it was too edited/manufactured, and there was SO much discourse about lineup decisions and contestant treatment
if hybe x geffen learned anything from the whole DA era, it’s probably that the survival show got attention but also created a ton of negativity before the group even debuted
so what if for round 2 they’re doing the exact opposite:
quietly developing trainees behind the scenes and debuting them already fully formed instead of making everyone watch the process
which is where saint satine comes in
their debut has felt WEIRD. and hasnt had good audience reaction either ... like it feels polished enough to feel major-label backed, but also kinda like a joke or a test in a way that feels intentional. i cant remember her name but i watched this youtube vid and it was about how saint satine is basically rage bait and i lowk agree and think its a marketing technique.
run
and if you think about it saint satine could literally be:
- a pre-debut unit
- a pilot launch to test reception before revealing a bigger hybe x geffen connection
- a ragebait marketing technique to get everyone watching hybe x geffen
also timing-wise it’s suspicious because katseye proved the global group concept works, and the UK is the most obvious next market after that
plus if they KNOW fans hated parts of the survival show model, it would make total sense for them to skip the whole public competition this time and just debut the group outright
idk maybe i’m fully in conspiracy mode but saint satine’s whole debut has felt like there’s more going on behind the scenes
has anyone else heard anything about london auditions / hybe staff in UK studios / geffen scouts around recent showcases??
pls tell me i’m not the only one with the corkboard out rn
