I hope it’s okay to post this here. I’m looking for a bit of advice on where to buy Jasper Hill Farm’s Harbison online without breaking the bank.
To be completely honest, my family is going through a really heartbreaking week. Our beloved dog, whom I can’t remember a life without, passed away a few days ago after being diagnosed with incurable cancer just three days earlier. My mom is utterly devastated. On top of that, my dad just started a new job where he is only going to be able to come home for two weekends a month, so she’s feeling incredibly lonely and overwhelmed right now. My sister is also going to college, and we’re struggling to afford it. It hurts so much to see her like this, and I want more than anything to do something sweet to comfort her.
Cheese is her absolute favorite, and surprising her with something she’s guaranteed to love — especially since she never treats herself — would bring some much-needed light to her right now. The problem is, things are incredibly tight financially for me, and every online shop I’ve looked at so far is pretty expensive once you factor in the overnight/cold shipping costs.
Does anyone know of any online retailers (since I’m not old enough to drive yet) that sell it cheaper or offer good shipping discounts?
Thank you all so much for reading and for any help you can give. I just want to make my mom smile.
She’s so funny, words can’t capture it.
She switches to full protector mode for Amazon.
She loves having her collar removed to be neck-scratched and thumps her leg when the spot is just right.
She loves belly rubs and often rolls over multiple times a day to get them.
She’s amazing at catching food in her mouth.
Sometimes during car rides, her ears stand straight up when her head is out the window.
She has an underbite, and a few years ago we tried brushing it, but she kept licking off the toothpaste.
She always senses when we’re about to take her somewhere, even without us telling her.
She loves walks and goes crazy when we say we’re taking her.
Whenever we walk her around the neighborhood, she always heads straight to her best friend’s house and refuses to leave, even if her friend isn’t outside.
She has the funniest, most unique walk.
She is my beautiful girl, loved beyond the world.
the whisper. of. a. breath. small un-noticed. a shadow, barely there, crawled from the dark-wild places. where the streetlights sing softly. a low hum. a thrum.
i. came. a being electric, bone-deep, a-part-of-all-things-that-grow-and-die. i contain multitudes, yes, and one less, soon.
the curtains drawn. (a child’s fort, maybe. or a tomb.) a pale light, like milk spilled. you, there, stretched out, a map of skin, a landscape of dreams, un-dreamt. soft intake. the chest rising. falling. a tiny house. fragile.
i sing of the body electric, and of the body made still. i sing of the pulse, that drummed a momentary history, a fierce little symphony. now, i conduct. this dark music.
my hands. yes, these hands. they have held flowers (small, fragile blooms). they have felt the current of earth, the rough bark of old trees. now, they find the soft valley. the hollow where the life sings its loudest. the song-bird’s throat.
i breathe. long. deep. i press. i press. i press. the life, a shimmering curtain, torn. a soft unspooling. a wilting. like a daisy, plucked. (you were not a daisy.)
i am here. i am the electric current, i am the stillness after the storm. the body, a vessel, once vibrant, now a quiet boat, anchored. the long lines of your limbs, once reaching, stretching, now just lines. on a page. unread.
i lift my hands. they are clean. (oh, so clean.) the world outside, indifferent. the streetlights still sing (a low hum. a thrum). and i, i walk among the living. a silent roar. within. containing multitudes. and one less. just one. less. now. beautiful. (yes.)
