Can players shout "Challenge!" when they are challenging a call?

Sometimes the umpire does not see the tapping of the cap when the player is challenging, and then when they finally spot it, they assert that it's too late to challenge, even tho it was the umpire's own fault that it's too late. Can't the players, while tapping their helmets, shout "Challenge!" as a way to get the umpire's attention? Or would it be seen as disrespectful? Are players prohibited from saying anything while they challenge? Thanks

Montreal now has a group for people to scream together. Not sure if this is a joke, but I can relate to the feeling.

Why are some helmets greasy on their fronts?

During games, I often see the front of a batter's helmet is very greasy. Usually over the logo. It's not the regular shine of the helmet. It's markedly different.

I often see players adjust their helmets from the front, so it could be from their gloves. Is there some kind of bat oil or polish that they are somehow transferring to it?

Would appreciate any kind of inside knowledge. Thanks!

A new book called "Literary Life After Death" published by Concordia U. Press examines how we commemorate authors after their death, and there's a chapter on LMM and Anne. It's open source available to read at the link.

Can players bring out a handkerchief with them to wipe the sweat off their faces?

In a lot of games I see players using the neckline of their jerseys or arm sleeves to wipe sweat from their faces. Mostly pitchers. I was wondering if it was okay for them to have a handkerchief in their back pockets for this, or if a uniform code prevented it. Thanks!
