How my Bronco saved my life.

Title is exaggerative, but a real story of how the Bronco saved me.

I recently bought a 2023 Bronco Outer Banks with the 2.3l.

Like many in the North Eastern USA, we have been hit HARD with rain, and that has been bringing immense flooding.

A week and a half ago, we got hit hard with flooding. While doing some work around the house, I became careless and accidentally stabbed myself in the stomach with a box cutter. Blood started gushing all over, and the road to the nearest hospital was submerged in water. (Unsure how deep it was, but I feel it was near the top of my 35s.)

My wife being the trooper she is rushed me into the car, and drove through that water like a champ. Haven't been more proud of my bronco (and wife).

Why is the liquid diet the hardest part of surgery?

I can take the idea of them cutting half of my stomach away. I can take the idea of them rearranging my small intestines.

I am on day 1 of 14 for my liquid diet, and I am already dreading it. I want to chew, I want to swallow. I want something more than a protein shake.

Liquid Diet with a Highly Cognitive Job?

I am a software developer, specifically a team lead that designs systems and leads other developers. This means that i use a LOT of congition when I do my daily job.

I start my Liquid Diet this coming Wednesday, and I am worried about body fatigue, but more importantly Brain Fog.

Does anyone have any tips on how to manage this? With only being allowed 800 calories a day, and no caffeine, idea fear that Brain Fog is going to be extremely rough on me.

How much is to much?

I have so much going on in my life right now, but I know this is the right decisions.

Background: My wife and i are going on 2 years living with my in-laws. We are in the process of having a house built, so we have a lot of stress from that process. We expect to get the keys to move in around the middle of November.

I started this process in March of this year. A week and a half ago, I got a message offering me August 19 as my surgery date. Everything seems like it is moving so fast.

I meet with my doctor this Friday, July 24. From my initial visit, SADI-S is what we discussed going with. I'm stressed and scared because of everything that is happening all at once.

Sorry for the ramble.

Updating car audio: Tips & Tricks?

I am currently planning out updating my Bronco's speaker system. I bought a used 2023, and just learned that the subwoofer is fake. I planned to redo the system anyways, but now it is taking priority over a couple others.

I am debating between doing the following setups:

Kicker 200.4 update for the 6 normal speakers using the built in speaker wires, and a Kicker 500.1 for a JL Audio 12" on the tailgate.

A stronger amp for the 6 speakers (i believe i would need to run custom speaker wire for this. Not sure how I would get the audio from the head unit.) And the same subwoofer and amp.

If you have any tips, or did something similar to one of the above, let me know!

Picking one up this week. What mods should I drop on it?

I'll be picking up a 2024 Sonata N Line this week. 19k miles. (It was a lease trade in)

Mind you, I am coming from driving a 2004 Chevy Silverado, so my concept of "modding" is very different. Does the car need a Strut Bar installed? Also what kind of Intake / Exhaust should I be looking at?

Am I stupid for not auto accepting a huge pay raise?

I recently was badgered by recruiters to interview for a Mid-Level Position. I finally gave in and agreed to interview. After the interview and hearing about everything I am currently doing (currently leading an onboarding endeavor to bring on 20+ new devs) they offered me a Sr. Software Engineer position with a healthy $88k base salary pay increase.

The issue at hand is that the Insurance is significantly worse than I currently have. I have a 6% straight 401k match, while the new company only offers 2% max if i put in 4 (and their vesting schedule is 6 years).

I love what I do and who i do it with. The schedule flexibility is amazing. For the new position I would need to constantly wear dress clothes, as it is onsite at a government facility.

I went to my current manager and brought this to his attention. He said they could not match or even come close, and i told him i didnt even want them to come close. A simple $25,000 pay raise would be more than enough to keep me happy and loyal for my career.

Am I stupid?

Which Sonata N Line should I buy?

I am torn between two Sonata N Lines at my local dealership, and plan to buy one next weekend.

2023 Sonata N Line, 49,970 miles, $22,200

2024 Sonata N Line, 18,000 miles, $29,000

Both are CPO. I am trying to figure out if 32,000 miles, one year newer and new tech is worth $6,800.

I like the front end of the 2023 significantly more than the other, but the higher mileage worries me some.

Any suggestions?
