Dogs always get on my nerves when they bark!

It always freakin pisses me off when the customer’s dog heck even 2 or 3 dogs bark at me or to any delivery person whether that is an Uber Eats, DoorDash or an Amazon Flex delivery person. Well, to be honest it’s how loud the bark is and how many times do they bark at me.

Don’t get me wrong, I like dogs and I’m interested in having a dog as a pet, but dogs that you don’t own barking at you for all the years of delivering is getting out of hand.

Some customers are sympathetic towards delivery people and ask us to leave at the door and do not knock and ring doorbell at it will set the dogs off, but the rest are just assuming that we can just deal with it! Sometimes I wish I just had the urge to ask the dog to shut the f*** up but of course if the customer heard that, it may give me thumbs down of unprofessionalism.

Was this delivery suspicious

Yesterday night I was delivering Nando’s to a customer who lives at the same suburb as I am, the order was a meet at the door delivery, but the customer requested via messages to leave the delivery at the door, so I left the delivery at the door and THEN it asked me for the PIN, but because the customer requested me to leave at the door again,I didn’t bother with the PIN and marked the delivery as complete only to realise like 10 minutes later, my delivery was marked INCOMPLETE and a report was filed against me for it. From the report it says that the PIN wasn’t used and knew it was that customer. But I swear to God that I left the delivery at the correct location, I always triple check the address.

So I drove back to the customer’s location, rang the doorbell twice and after that tried to knock at the door and guess what? No answer at all. This lead me into the suspicion that the customer must’ve falsely reported me presumably to obtain a refund and enjoy its order for free, I mean the customer could be hesitant to answer the door because of how awkward the confrontation would be.

And THEN on my way home, I then received a $15 tip from that same customer, but I gave a thanks anyway. My theory is that the Nando’s meal that the customer paid was around $15, but because Uber Eats would charge like $20 for the order plus the delivery and service fee so could be like $30 in total, the cost will be pricier, however the customer did not want to be part of that and only wanted to pay like the original cost, but to ME? I did not prepare the order, I delivered it😂

Should verifying the Uber Eats order be an Uber Eats delivery persons responsibility ONLY?

Some restaurants and parlours ask you to verify the order in front of 1 or 2 staff, which I find really annoying. Why can’t just showing them the order and them ASKING us to verify at our own pace as a reminder be enough?

Typically the merchants from the restaurants and parlours are responsible for preparing and packing the order ready for delivery, and WE are responsible for delivering that order with care and with punctuality.

But of course in order to maximise the best service possible, some restaurants ask their delivery people to verify the order fully, and/or to bring an insulated bag otherwise we’re refused to deliver, I mean they do pay commission fees to Uber. But in my opinion, verifying our deliveries are OUR responsibility, not the merchants. Can the merchants recommend, yes I can tolerate that, but can they mandate how we deliver the orders, I don’t think so.

Now, what do y’all think? Is it necessary for merchants to mandate verification and/or insulated bags, or is ridiculous?

Does this look like 7 items!?

Recently I was assigned to deliver a Woolies order which claims to have 7 items, but sometimes Uber misinforms us that 1 bag is 1 item, which if you use your common sense one bag of items is NOT the same as one friggin item!

However for this order, Uber Eats took it to a whole new level. The app informed me that it was 7 items, I waited 15 minutes only to be presented with a trolley of 30+ ITEMS and it’s not 7 bags, it was 11 bags!!! Like what the actual fark!!!! Some of the other bags are underneath the bags you see.

Thankfully, I was able to fit all bags in my SUV, but come on, we need to be informed better😒

Yeah nah not happening

Yesterday I was given an offer to deliver a package that is like an hour away from a suburb neighbouring my home, but Uber Eats doesn’t give a fark about where I live and at nearly quarter pass 9 PM, sends me this crappy offer, yes, despite the pay being like $36/hour, travelling forth and back bleeds $8-$10 worth of fuel and if you’re not delivering on your way home, this order is pretty crap to my standards.

But thank heavens that we have the freedom to decline such an offer, OR, why can’t Uber be a bit more generous and add a setting that allows us to adjust our delivery radius based on where we live!!??

Rather do 3 deliveries that pay me $33 which ends me up in a suburb 20 minutes away from my home, than this package delivery. I’m honestly sick and tired of these long distance offers!!!!

Who is this lady?

If you’re from Irinjalakuda and Chalakudy in Thrissur district, you almost certainly came across this lady as the mascot of Eezee English, which is some IELTS coaching program. But is she like a famous person like what is her name?

I was tipped $50 in cash for a package delivery?

I assigned myself to do a $15 package delivery because the drive was from Oran Park NSW which is where I live to Mt Annan NSW, which is not far, just 18 minutes. Not like some location 1 hour away from my house like Bondi.

A woman came to me with a bag and an insulated bag at the pick-up location implying that it was her kids uniform I’d to deliver to her husband at Mt Annan, she spoke quite a lot, but did she also say that she was drunk!? (And no, she was not dangerous or anything like that😂)

And then I was tipped $50 in cash. The biggest tip I’ve ever received from my years at gig delivery. I did the delivery anyway. And hooh, that was tense.

But I was worried that I could be delivering something illegal or naughty.

I see a lot of the Malayali diaspora in Western Countries like USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and other European countries hailing mostly from Kottayam

It has came to my attention that as an Australian of Malayali descent, there are many Malayali families coming from Kottayam or places in Kottayam district. I’m from Thrissur district originating between Irinjalakuda and Chalakudy by the way.

I cannot find any demographics online about which district do most of the Malayali diaspora come from, but I’m curious to know why I mostly see Kottayakar malayalis. Why is this the case?

Is this rude?

Asking your delivery person to leave at the door and/or don’t knock or ring the door bell is one thing, but asking them to GO AWAY even if it’s polite is probably not a good idea. This is because telling people to go away sounds quite awkward.

I mean they need privacy of course, but if I was the customer, I would just say leave at the door and don’t ring the doorbell. But yeah this note is quite rare.

Village Thai At Gregory Hill’s NSW could get the sack!

Yesterday I was delivering two bags worth of Thai food for a customer that is 20 minutes away from the restaurant only to realise that one of the curries was not packed properly and let out a massive spillage in one of the bags, and DESTROYED THE BAG as the curry drenched it.

The customer understood that it wasn’t my fault, but thank god it was not some picky person who complains about damaged food. After this my insulated bag was drenched with Thai curry in the inside and had to thoroughly wash it with a jet spray and some soap because it was oily.

It could be on me, but team members who packed the food should take into consideration more carefully on how the food is transported. I hope I don’t get a thumbs down, despite my satisfaction rate being 97%.

Thank god for my Menulog insulated bag for this

7 pizza boxes from this customer. Imagine how much of a logistic nightmare it would be, if I haven’t got a big insulated bag. That’s why you should use an insulated bag. Easy to carry + keeps food warm.

Oh and I’d to also delivery for 2 more customers too😂

Who’s the idiot that programmed this map!?

Sometimes Uber Eats pinpoints the wrong location, could’ve pissed off the customer if it was waiting outside.
