I want to make my own equatorial mount

Hi everyone, I'm a young astrophotographeur and I want to make my own equatorial mount.

The first image is the idea I come up with

The second is more precise

And the last one is a mix between 2D and 3D of what I wanna make.

I first started with the idea of :

stepper motor> worm gear>large drive wheel>the polar axis.

The motor will be controlled using an Arduino UNO.

And with microstepping.

To adjust the axe in vertical way I thaugt about 2 threaded rod and like that I can adjust precisely my axis.

All the system will be on a base which will be able to rotate 360° on the tripods

I'm still thinking about a Goto system but for now it's to complexe.

Any feedback, advice, or potential flaws you see in this design would be greatly appreciated!

I want to become an aerodynamic engineer?!

Hello everyone!

I'm currently in high school in France, and I want to start preparing for a career in aerospace engineering and fluid mechanics (Aerodynamicist). Calling it just a "job" feels like an understatement—it’s been my passion since I was 8 years old!

I have a few questions for those in the field, in university, or in CPGE:

- Do high schoolers need internships or a portfolio to get into French prépas (CPGE), university programs, or eventually land a job at a company like Airbus?

- Are there good, beginner-friendly resources to get familiar with the basics and principles of fluid mechanics without getting overwhelmed by complex math?

- What is the absolute "must-know" foundational knowledge I should focus on building right now?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

I'm lost

Hello, I'm a French high school student currently in Seconde (10th grade).

I would like to become an aerospace engineer, but I'm still not very familiar with the different paths to get into engineering schools.

My first choice is ISAE-SUPAERO. However, I'm not sure whether attending a classe préparatoire (prep school) is the best option, or if there are other ways to get admitted through competitive exams such as Mines-Ponts, or other admission routes.

Regarding prep schools, I was considering the one at Lycée Thiers in Marseille because I often see it mentioned online, but it seems to be very selective.

My second choice is EPFL in Lausanne. I've looked at the website, but I'm a bit confused about the admission process, the availability of scholarships, and, most importantly, what makes this university particularly attractive for someone interested in aerospace engineering. If anyone studies there or has experience with it, I'd really appreciate your advice.

At the moment, these are the only two schools I've seriously considered, although I plan to research more options. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!
