OpenDots 2 owners, has anyone actually dropped them on a hard surface? What happened?
Looking for real drop outcomes specifically, not IP rating speculation. If you’ve dropped yours, even once, would appreciate the details:
What surface did it land on? (tile, concrete, wood floor, etc.)
What height did it fall from? (off your ear while standing, off a desk/table, out of pocket, etc.)
Did it land flat, on an edge, or on a corner?
Any visible damage? Cracks, scuffs, the clip bending out of shape, anything loose internally?
Did sound quality or mic pickup change afterward, even subtly?
Did the charging case take a drop too, and how did that fare?
How long had you owned them before it happened?
Did you contact Shokz support about it, and if so, how did that go?
Mainly trying to figure out if the build can take a normal accidental drop (off the ear, out of a pocket, knocked off a desk) or if it’s something to be extra careful with. Cheers in advance to anyone who’s got a real story rather than a guess.
To clarify: I'm not anxious about my own pair, this is purely for data collection. The OpenDots 2 only launched June 4 2026, so there's close to zero real world drop/impact info anywhere online right now, just IP rating specs which only cover water and dust, not impact. Figured a thread like this could end up being a useful reference for anyone searching this later, since right now there's nothing to find. Appreciate the replies either way.
