How useful are these things in an actual game? I picked one up to paint because it looked cool but is it actually used in games ?

So I’m new to GSC and playing WH in general. I’m building my GSC combat patrol and am building these acolytes, what’s the general consensus on how to build them these days? I did one with hand flamers and was undecided on how to do the other.
