Thank you Buttercup! You will be missed!

I already made a post about what happened but I just wanted to honour my baby because he deserves it.
Buttercup was such an incredibly animal to be around. Some people say it’s a small animals I you can’t connect with it. Well that’s definitely not true. We built trust and he was with me through very hard times. It was comforting to know every day I’d come home to him and every day I’d wake up with his enclosure next to me. He was the best hamster any hamster could wish for. Thank you so much for everything buttercup. Knowing your gone is truly painful and just because your gone doesn’t mean your forgotten at all. There will always be a place for you in my heart. Rest well in Hammy Heaven. Goodnight Buttercup, I love u.❤️❤️❤️

We had to put my beautiful ButterCup down.

This is really hard for me to say as it’s very fresh and I’m still grieving. About a month ago, recently after I had moved, Buttercup my long haired Syrian male hamster started slowing down. I assumed it was because he was getting older (one year and a few months), and that may have been part of it. I thought nothing of it. The next weeks his fur had continually gotten matted and big pieces of bedding stuck in his fur. I had gave him time to groom it out but he had stopped grooming as much. I tried brushing his fur but he was very flinchy and the bedding was very stuck. I had gotten a grooming kit and had researched but it wasn’t doing much. Soon he stopped using his wheel pretty recently, and his eye was getting crusty. I had thought it was because he had just woken up so I tried to wipe it off with a warm compress. At this point I was doing a lot of research, binge watching Victoria raechel 😭, and looking on Reddit. I tried convincing my parents to let me take him to the vet as he was obviously sick. I begged them for awhile but they weren’t willing to spend money on ‘an old hamster who was going to die anyways’ ya that pissed me off so much lol. Anyways I finally convinced them. I found an exotic vet and booked an appointment. A few days ago I realized his bottom teeth looked broken which sometimes happens with old hamsters but something seemed off with his mouth. We went to the vet and the veterinarian said buttercups upper teeth was curving into his throat or mouth (idk the scientific words or whatever) and hitting somewhere near his eye possibly. He might’ve had a tumour behind his eye but it was a big possibility that it was because of his teeth. The vet had recommended us going for the surgery way. The cost in total would’ve been 500+ dollars without a guarantee of buttercup recovering fully. The other was to use antibiotics and painkillers (since he was in extreme pain) but it wouldn’t solve anything. The last option was to look at quality of life. He couldn’t eat properly, use his wheel, he couldn’t even groom himself. I tried asking my parents to continue with the surgery but they just said that we can’t spend that type of money on a small animal that doesn’t live long anyways. I do understand it’s very expensive but I was really panicking and wanted to try to help butter. I knew antibiotics wouldn’t really do anything and we would take buttercup home suffering and slowly dying painfully. I couldn’t do that to him so I made a very hard decision to put him down. Some people say it’s cruel but for me it was an act of love. I was right next to him the whole time, stroking him. It was incredibly hard. Buttercup was amazing and I’m so proud to have owned him. Having him beside me for a year and a half was amazing and he was little hamster and friend. He was so small but yes I did have a connection with him, even if I didn’t always pet him or hold him. We had trust and I’m very sad he is gone. R.I.P Buttercup. You will be missed and I love you. ❤️

Does my robo look underweight

I’ve had my robo dwarf hamster Peppermint since December 28th and I barely see him. I rescued him from the petstore where he was in a tiny ass cage with multiple hamsters. When I first saw him I realized he had a front paw missing. I told the store employees and they were shocked and said k could have him for free. I’m afraid if they had noticed before they would have used him as livestock as he would’ve been deemed ugly or not fit to be adopted. So I took him in as I was already preparing for another hamster and everything was set up.
The night we got him I saw him a lot and he went everywhere and was very curious. He loves burrowing a lot and that’s why I literally never see him. One thing that has concerned me is the fact that I can’t tell if he is eating or coming out at night. I’ve left food on easy places to get to and he hasn’t gotten them. I also put cheese out close to his tunnel and he didn’t eat it. I don’t see any signs of him. I recently was very concerned and dug around a bit and he came up (so at least he is alive). I’m just worried he isn’t getting the proper care he needs and is healthy. He is very fast burrowed and runner but I’m just scared and even if I don’t see him a lot I at least want the peace of mind knowing he is eating and doing normal hamster activities. I’m going to install a security camera so I can watch over him. The video I took was yesterday when I heard him shuffling and went to explore and saw him in his hideout. Sorry I wrote this in a rush- but any advice is welcome 🤗 thank you!

All clean!

Buttercup is enjoying his new toys and snacks I got him though my wallet is crying lol. I just moved and this is my first clean in this new house! His trip from my old house to this one was smooth as the new house was just built and literally thirty second walk from my old house. Anyways I was also wondering if there is anything I should add or change! Thanks!
