Hi! I’m experiencing a lot of urethra burning and the areas around it. What can I do with topical lidocaine gel and where is it safe to put?

Hi guys for the past 2 months I literally have been living in so much pain, I just got discharged from the hospital from peeing blood, bladder spasms, burning, all of the above. The urologist team at North shore hospital and my regulari urologist just keep referring me to Dr Robert Moldwin because he’s allegedly known to treat really well, but his earliest appt isnt until November. Does anyone have any recs on IC specialists?

also please help me list out all medications i can ask my primary doc to prescribe me before i get discharged from the hospital

Hi! My doctor suggested I take either urogesic blue or tricyclic antidepressant because my biggest issue is experiencing bladder & urethra burning so bad to the point that Im no longer able to sit or stand. I know I’m not allowed to take both at the same time. Any recs or advice is appreciated on what worked for you guys if you tried either or both. I know urogesic is more immediate and tricyclic can take up to a few weeks to work but Im struggling on which to pick because I have been bed ridden for the past month.

Hi guys, ive only recently started experiencing IC symptoms maybe around 2 weeks ago now but everyday has been miserable. But today, I have this horrible burning feeling which is usually sorta tolerable but today I just cant. It’s especially the worst right before I have to pee (which is literally every 2 minutes) and right when I try to squat down to pee, it’s like my body isnt letting me which then I force myself to push and push to get the pee out and during this time, my bladder and urethra are on fire. I then try to relax my pelvis and try to push again and its just on fire the entire time. Eventually after a minute of pushing/straining, I’m finally able to pee. Please any tips on this would help and any recs for immediate burning relief as well!! I just took prescription AZO (which has never helped me) and I also just started diazepam vaginal suppository daily yesterday. But I think I need some type of immediate relief right now, thank you!

Hi, i’m recently new to the bladder pain of it all, but was wondering if taking baking soda will help alleviate pain/burning even if my IC flares are not diet/food related? Thanks!

Hi im F23 and recently found out I have interstitial cystitis. About 2 weeks ago, I was experiencing and still am so much bladder pain, spasms, peeing every 5 minutes, and if I try to hold for any longer, my pelvis feels extremely heavy and it gets painful. I do want to prioritize getting into pelvic PT knowing this has been huge in pain management and I did get a referral from my urologist. But my concern is going while being in so much pain and having to pee so much. I know these physical therapists are probably used to it all, but I don’t know if I can stand even 2 minutes let alone an hour so I’ve been anxious on how to book an appt with them, going and just being in so much pain during my first appt and not even being able to do any of the exercises during my sessions. Any advice helps.
