When does one decide surrender is the right thing to do?

Last November I adopted a dachshund Jack Russell mix and she is absolutely the sweetest girl. It was pretty clear shortly after I brought her home that she had separation anxiety and I started working with a CSAT beginning in January. She is on both Prozac and trazodone and the most she has ever given me is 75 minutes (she only achieved this once), but that was over three months ago and before I moved into a new home. She is now only giving me about 12 minutes consistently. I live alone and I am absolutely exhausted and overwhelmed. I love her with my whole heart and soul and want to do what is best for her but I’m struggling with grief and guilt over the idea of potentially doing a thoughtful surrender. Has anyone in this group made the decision to surrender their dog with SA?What did that process look like for you and what has your healing journey been?

To be clear, I have not made any sort of concrete decision as to what I’m going to do. I just know that I at least need to think about this so I can be as intentional and kind and caring towards my little girl as I possibly can be whether she ultimately stays with me or I find her a home that might be better suited to her needs than me

A Laugh for the Group

My partner has a tear away calendar and got this gem the other day. Thought I’d share it with the group to remind us all that our jobs could truly be worse lol
