What to do when someone fabricates evidence against you?
My friend and me have a case against a previous landlord, who refused to reimburse our deposit and evaded the legal procedure of providing a receipt where she states where did the money go. The case is being handled by the LLO from our part.

Last week our lawyer emailed us with my landlords response. They claim falsely that the agreed rent amount was half of what we claim (and what really was paid every time), and that we are at fault and somehow need to pay around 20000 kr. In addition, as proof of this agreement, they submitted a completely false whatsapp screenshot, where she is talking to me (my picture and contact) and letting me know about this and that I agreed. The screenshot its clearly fake, it has inconsistencies in the UI within the picture itself, wrong formatting, sketchy spacing and it was likely made by a whatsapp conversation generator webpage (yeah apparently thats a thing). In addition, she submitted also screenshots of real conversations (nothing damning to our case really) where the whole appareance its different and my contact name is spelled slightly different.
Im honestly just baffled. I trust the rent tribunal will be smart enough to check everything thoroughly, but after telling my lawyer she says theres not much there can be do about it other than wait for the decision of the court. I think is very serious, and consider it identity theft and a very bad intentioned digital scam and would like to see this prosecuted further.
What should one do in this case? Is it worth contacting the police about it?
