Food question

Food question

I make up my birb’s veggies up a couple of times a month with food I get from the grocery store and put it in individual serving containers that I thaw before giving it to him daily.
So I saw a bag of frozen mixed vegetables at the grocery store. Everything in the bag is fine for birds. Is there any reason I can’t use these frozen vegetables to make up the majority of his vegetables? I know I’d have to add a few things, and change things up pretty often, but being able to bypass much of the vegetable prep would be nice.

Jane Withers

Does anyone know anything about the MA Jane Withers doll? I have one and brought her with me to a doll show about ten years ago and just about everyone was either saying they were jealous or were offering me money for her. Is this a rare/valuable doll? I mostly collect antique bisque or modern artist made dolls, but I do have three or four composition dolls. I’ve been told various things but figured if I was going to get reliable information, this sub is the right place.

Is my bird imitating a puppy?

Today is day 6 of sharing our home with this beautiful 10 year old. My husband calls a few times each day to FaceTime with the birb. He’s always excited to see and hear my husband, but today he started doing this puppy whine. He got over it quickly and came out of his cage to play and walk around. Just curious.

Toys

We have a new to us CAG. Spent a lot of money on toys for his cage. He has shown little to no interest in them. He enjoys walking around on the floor and exploring. He has discovered the recycle bin and has found water bottles. Small ones, gallon size, it doesn’t matter. His water bottle joy is impossible to hide! It’s like a two year old opening Christmas gifts and preferring the boxes. He’s so precious, so we’re just enjoying his lovable personality.

Canadian wildfires and birds

I just want to say I’m in the LP of Michigan along Lake Michigan, a several hours drive away from the fires. The whole state is under an air quality alert. I went to take a nice long bath and came out of the bathroom and it smelled like my house is on fire (it’s not). The smoke is getting so thick that it’s like being in a very dense fog. I just want to warn anyone in the bordering states to be ultra aware of their bird’s health. And I’m going to head out to the store for an air purifier (bird isn’t arriving here for several days yet). Can anyone recommend an air purifier?

Birds and the parasite problem

Do any of you know if birds are affected by this parasite issue? I’m currently without a bird but will soon be adding a CAG to our family in a week or so. I haven’t heard that their intake of fruits and vegetables has to be carefully vetted or if they aren’t affected by the parasite. Right now I’m in Michigan, and last I knew, Michigan has the most cases, so that concerns me.

My best find ever

I’m guessing that whoever priced this little one thought it was a plastic reproduction. It’s not. It’s about 90 years old and In very good condition and less than $20.

Dill Havarti soup

There was a restaurant I frequented for years in the summer in Ludington Michigan called Chef John’s. There was always a line of people to get in, and the dill havarti soup was heavenly. I would like to try making it, but every recipe I’ve seen is different from what Chef John made. I know it’s a long shot, but does anyone here have Chef John’s recipe?
