Neumorphic Home Screen

Neumorphic Home Screen

At 80 years old, I find designing in SL a real challenge, but fun. I wanted to try a neumorphic style. It was a LOT of work, but I got it done!

* Wallpaper my design in Photoshop.

* Icons a combo of IPS pack & my own images.

* Clock is an SL widget.

* Weather is Transparent Clock & Weather app.

* Utility widgets made in KWGT.

* Used SL Dock for bottom row.

* Center picture is a SL widget stack containing 14 SL picture widgets with different affirmations. I can swipe to a new greeting any time and adding new ones is easy.

* I give permission to share.

Please Help! Icon Group Won't Move to Different Home Screen Page

I have 3 Home Screens. I have an icon group on a home screen page to the left of my main home screen. This icon group contains 12 Folders, each containing MANY individual contacts. Recreating this icon group, the 12 Folders, and the tens of contacts populating the folders would be a big, time-consuming job.

So I tried to move the whole icon group to the right one page (to my main home screen), and it ended up getting Ghosted (stuck between pages where you can't tap it, move it, or use it). I can't believe there's no way to move an icon group to a different home screen! Or, at least, a way to copy it and paste it onto a different home screen.

Please tell me there's a way to do this without starting from scratch!

Thank you!

Still Learning (Slowly)!

I posted my home screen a week or two ago, but have made some changes since then. I'm trying to learn both Smart Launcher and KWGT and I'm obviously not a developer or designer. I know the dark, moody, minimalistic look is popular and I do love it, but I lived in rainy Oregon for 25 years (I'm in Florida now) so for me, I like to see lots of sunshine and color. It also has to be very functional such that I can find everything I need on my Home Screen.

The glass clock is from MaxP, made in KWGT, and generously shared (thank you!!). I made a few minor changes to it to fit my beach scene, such as changing the digits' color to teal and adding some additional bright, offset edges. The glassy icon containers are Smart Launcher's Liquid Glass widgets. The weather widget is from Transparent Clock & Weather app. The icons at the center are folders containing categorized apps (e.g., communication, settings, etc.). I've edited them to fit my theme from various packs I've downloaded. The beach ball is also a folder that contains my most frequently used internet sites (Chrome, Play Store, etc.). For a little extra fun, I created a Mode to switch to the nighttime beach scene at sunset and back to daytime at sunrise. Smart Launcher's liquid glass requires me to do the wallpaper screenshot each time after it changes wallpaper, in order to render the liquid glass containers, but that just takes a second. Certainly not a pro design by any means, but it's been a fun project.

Add Non-App Icons (for Folders) to an Icon Pack??

Hi, New to IPS and Smart Launcher. I've successfully created my first SL setup with 3 home pages. One page has 8 Folders with frequently used apps. Another has 12 Folders with frequently called Contacts. I created my own icons for the folders as PNG images stored in my Gallery. SL makes it easy to select them for the Folder icons.

Now I want to create a brand new SL setup, this time using liquid glass icons from IPS. I figured out how to download and apply icon packs from IPS, but I cannot figure out how to add my custom, PNG images to an IPS icon pack and, if I succeed in doing that, how to apply these to my Folders.

Hoping somebody can give me some help with this. Thanks!

Searching for A Beautiful Home Screen Posted Here Recently

In the last few days, somebody posted a home screen with a gorgeous wallpaper. The wallpaper looked like a thick, twisted, liquid stream or ribbon of liquid in multi-colors. I just scrolled through here but couldn't find it. If the you are the OP or somebody can link me to that post, that would be great! Thanks!

Backups Not Working Correctly?

What's happening with backups? As you can see from the screenshot, I made a backup on 6/28 (Backup 011) which displayed my beach scene wallpaper (it is my own photo in the Gallery). I made no changes to the wallpaper image or its location/album in the Gallery, but when I made a new backup two days later, on 6/30 (Backup 012), the wallpaper no longer shows. I tried a restart of SL, a restart of my phone, and then creating another backup, but same result. My wallpaper DOES show up normally on my home screen, just NOT in the image of the backup.

I'm on a Galaxy S26 Ultra, One UI 8.5, Android 16, using SL 6 Pro 6.6 build 011 patch 1.

I am afraid to restore from this 6/30 backup, in case the gray background indicates some kind of corruption. I see that others have had similar issues and one reported it did corrupt the restore.

Infinite Scroll, Really?

I don't get it. You have a feature called Infinite Scroll so we can scroll from screen to screen in a loop. But then you append a warning that "...side pages cannot be opened..." unless we create a gesture or scroll using a dock. Almost like you're saying, "Here's a great feature but it doesn't do what it's intended to do.

This Week's Home Screen Design(s)

I've been learning Smart Launcher over the last couple of weeks. I see so many beautiful home screens you've all designed, thanks for the inspiration. Mine is geared toward functionality so it is 3 Home Screens. One contains a dozen folders that organize my contacts into categories. One contains eight folders that organize my most-used apps into categories. And one is a "utilities" page with widgets for Routines, Battery, and a secondary Weather app. I have a Dock with my 6 daily-use apps (Messages, Phone, Notes, Chrome, Camera, and Pro Camera). I use Transparent Clock & Weather for Time/Weather. The wallpaper is my own photo-artwork and the icons are a compilation of edits to images found online and my own designs. And just for fun, I made a night scene of my wallpaper and created a Mode to switch between day and night at sunset and sunrise.

Suggestions, tips and tricks, critiques are welcome. Feel free to share.

Problems with Icon for Modes & Routines App

I have my own icon designs in my photo Gallery and have assigned them, one at a time, to various apps, folders, widgets, etc. When I assigned one to the Modes and Routines app, it worked perfectly, showing up as the notification icon in my Notifications panel whenever I activated a Routine.

I tried 2 different icons for Modes and Routines last week. Both worked just fine and the icon on the notifications changed as expected. However, today I changed it to another icon from my Gallery, and the notifications icon won't change. The icon in the app drawer changes fine.

I tried setting it back to the first icon, but it won't change back to that one either. So that eliminates that there's a problem with the icon image itself. I also tried restarting Modes & Routines; cleared cache; restarted my phone; restarted Smart Launcher. Nothing works.

Any ideas why it's stuck on that icon for notifications and how to get it unstuck? Thanks.

Home Screen Utilities Page (Routines, Watch/Phone Battery %, Pro Camera)

In an effort to help other newbies to SL, like myself, I'm posting step-by-steps to setups I've figured out how to do. This one is for a Utilities Home Screen. I'm not into the minimalist theme. My theme is functional, so I have 3 Home Screen pages. The main Home Screen (in the middle) contains my clock, weather widget, and folders containing my most used apps (Communication, Tools, Smart Home, Maps & Weather, etc.). I also have a dock with my 5 most used apps (messages, phone, camera, etc.). To the left is my Contacts Home Screen, with folders containing my most used contacts (Family, Personal, Emergency, Pet, etc.). To the right is my Utilities Home Screen, containing a set of 10 Routines I've made for my Phone and Watch, plus a Battery % widget for phone and watch, and a Pro Camera button. These instructions are for that Utilities Home Screen.

As I said, I'm new to SL, so I'm sure there are more elegant ways to accomplish these things, and I'm happy to have you chime in with your methods.

Phase 1:  ROUTINES
This assumes you have already made a set of routines that you want easy access to from your Home Screen.

  1. Long-press on an empty area of screen and select Add Widget.
  2. Scroll down past the Smart Widgets to the alphabetical list of Apps and find Modes and Routines and tap it.
  3. Select the multiple routines widget.
  4. This takes you back to your home screen where you’ll see a small circle widget with the words “get started.”  Tap that.
  5. Samsung will instantly pop open your list of custom routines. Check the boxes next to your routines to link them.  IMPORTANT:  Select them in the order you want them to be displayed in the widget, since once in the widget, they cannot be sorted.  The max you can select is 8.
  6. When you’ve selected the ones you want (up to 8) tap Done and you’ll be returned to Home.
  7. Long-press the new widget and tap Resize. Stretch the handles all the way from the far-left glass edge to the far-right glass edge so the buttons are large and easy to tap.  Stretch the handles up and down until you see all the routines (if you have 8, it will require you to stretch it to create two rows).
  8. Need more than 8 Routines?  You’ll have to create another identical widget but only include the additional routines in here.  Then you can move the two Routines widgets until they are touching and it will look close to a single widget with more than 8 routines in it.  This works best if the background of the widget is turned off.

Phase 2:  PHONE & WATCH BATTERY %

  1. Long-press on an empty area of screen and select Add Widget.
  2. Scroll down past the Smart Widgets to the alphabetical list of Apps and find Settings Suggestions and tap it.
  3. You’ll have two options for battery info:  Battery status (circles), and Battery Status (list).  Pick which you want and tap it.
  4. This takes you back to the Home Screen with a tiny, circular widget.  Long-press it and use the Fine Positioning “resize” and “move” tools to stretch, size, and place your widget where you want it.  If you have a watch, this widget will have both your phone and watch’s battery percentage.  Be sure to resize it so you can see both.
  5. This widget does NOT open an app.  All it does is display your battery percentages.

 Phase 3:  PRO CAMERA (RAW)

  1. Long-press on an empty area of screen and select Add Widget.
  2. Scroll down past the Smart Widgets to the alphabetical list of Apps and find Camera and tap it.
  3. At the Camera pop-up, select Vacation Photo / Custom Camera by tapping the icon (on my S26 Ultra, it is a grayish square that says Vacation Photo inside and says Custom Camera 1x1 below).
  4. This puts a round, white icon on your Home Screen.
  5. Long-press the white icon and select Configure from the menu.
  6. In the Widget settings page that pops up, tap on Starting mode and select Rear (for which camera lens to use) and Pro (for the Pro / Raw setting).
  7. In that same menu, tap Widget background and tap whether you want the icon for Pro Camera to be your most recent image, or if you want to Select an image.
  8. If you choose Select an image, it will take you to your gallery, where you can select an image.
  9. Select the image then tap Save, then tap Save again.
  10. Use Long-press > Fine positioning > Resize to give the icon the size and look you want.  NOTE:  I kept the icon 1x1, which actually doesn’t show your selected image and instead shows a camera lens.  I am not sure if there’s a better way to make a 1x1 icon for this widget.

Adding Contact Folders to Home Screen

Here's a solution for adding Contacts folders to your Home Screen. I'm brand new to SL, and find there's very little instruction available, and getting my most important contacts into folders organized by category was something I needed on my Home Screen. I know the trend now is minimalistic, but my trend is functional. If that's your style, this may be for you. Disclaimer: As I said, I'm new to SL, so this certainly may not be the most sophisticated method. I'd love to learn better ways, so feel free to instruct me!

Home Screen Contact Folder Setup

These steps put the full contact info (NOT quick dial) in the folders, but you could put quick dial, if you prefer. NOTE: You must have SL set as your default launcher to do this.

Phase 1: Put All Contacts you want in a single Folder on your Home Screen

  1. Find the Contacts app (the default Samsung one) on your home page by going to your apps drawer, finding the Contacts app, and dragging it UP to the top of the screen (you’ll see a frosted rectangle slide down from the top – drop it there).  That puts a copy of it on your home screen.
  2. Tap it, then tap the first contact’s name you want in the folder, and open the full details page of that person (on my S26 Ultra, I tap the person, then tap the “i” (information) button.
  3. Tap the Three Dots or More menu button (S26 Ultra, it’s bottom right).
  4. Tap Add Contact to Home Screen.
  5. Repeat this rapidly for every contact for that specific folder. (You can power through 20–30 people in just a couple of minutes this way).
  6. Press your phone's Home button to return to your home screen. You will see all those 1x1 contact shortcuts sitting as a loose cluster on your screen. They could be on a different Home Screen page if the system thinks the page you were on is too full.  I have three Home Pages, and they showed up on the 3rd page.

Phase 2: File Them Away

  1. Drag and drop two of the loose contact icons, one on top of the other.  This creates a folder.  Drag the rest of the contact icons into that folder, one by one.
  2. If your contacts ended up on a different page when you brought them onto the Home Screen, just drag the folder to the edge of the screen and hold it – it will slide to the next screen.  Keep doing that until the folder gets to the Home Screen page you want it on.
  3. If you have a custom icon, add it now by Long-Press > Edit Icon.
  4. When your folder is all set up, you can sort the contacts inside by dragging them into whatever order you like.
  5. Repeat from Phase 1, Step 1 for any additional categories (folders) of contacts you want on your home screen. For example, I have folders for "Family," "Personal," "Pets," "Emergency," etc.

Please Help!

New to SL. Tried to make a Dock of 5 apps and ended up with it only appearing when I slightly swipe (see photo). It can't be tapped or long pressed. How do I either get rid of it or fixe to be a docked set of apps that stay at the bottom of every home page?
