using valium while traveling has made making friends so easy it is ridiculous.

all the times i spent in hostels being too scared to walk up and ask “can i join you guys” completely dispelled, like smoke in the wind. i feel free, like truly free. unburdened by a weight i did not even realize i could shake off or was even carrying and the only thing that tempers that joyous realization is knowing i could have felt like this so much sooner if i had just tried it sooner.

been in vietnam for three days and gone on three separate dates with three beautiful women. still not remotely over my ex, but having so much fun besides. vermicelli, pork, fish rolls and beer from that one restaurant obama ate at with bourdain that one time.

flying into hanoi to spend fifty days in vietnam with $800 to last until august, any advice?

the plan is to be in hanoi for at least a week and a half, probably two. then a couple days apiece in the coastal towns, thanh hoa and truong vinh and dong hoi and da nang so on. i’d spend another week or so in hoi an, then round it out with another week and a half to two weeks in ho chi minh city.
