Doing some personal research and I'll likely be visiting the Baltics in the near future so figured this would be interesting/useful to know; however unsurprisingly most of the sources on this topic are in Latvian, so if any Latvians or anybody knowledgeable is able to answer it would be greatly appreciated.

As I understand it, there are two primary levels of policing in Latvia: the state police and various municipal police agencies. Both seem to be civilian organizations with broad law enforcement powers: but what, if any, are the primary differences in their duties and powers?

I just don't understand whats happening with this character.

I know they're trying to draw parallels between this and him beating the shit out of Tyler, but none of this abuse is connected to his past transgressions that we've seen. I feel like a lot of stuff with Nate that was integral to the fabric of the show (his sexuality, family dynamics, Jules) are just out the window this season. Seeing Nate get a tough go of it would be a bit more satisfying and fit better if it had anything to do with his character, instead of these random non-characters he owes money to.

Yes I can see how his manipulation of Cassie and his investors somewhat fits into his past behaviour as a character, but its not really showcased or explained fully for how central Cassie is being this season. Also like, the way this is going down is just weird to me. Nate is physically robust, he's a physical person; there are multiple scenes dedicated to getting this across... I find it just weird and unrealistic that he basically just sits around and waits for these middle aged Greek guys to beat the shit out of him and cut off his toes and fingers?

He barely even attempts to run and just tries to lock himself in a bathroom. Most people would be thinking self defence or trying to get out of the house. I would just like more explanation as to why this has happened and why Nate is like this now. totally left field.

is it just to save money or something?? if so they are paying some deans half a million dollars a year. maybe look there.
