How do you handle rootless sus4 voicings?

If you have a Cm7- F7sus4 - Bb maj, wouldn't the rootless voicings be the same for the Cm7- F7sus4 ? I am seeing that in most cases you would handle these not with rootless but with quartal voicings. Do either cases work?

What about rootless voicings with slash chords?

Matching scales to chords for improv -- feel like I am not getting better

I've been playing jazz for over five years and I feel stuck in my improv progress. Of course I do a lot of listening because that is important to learn the vocabulary. I'm great at learning the rootless voicings for a tune and using rhythm and articulation. I will also pick out licks from solos and apply them over chord progressions. Every new tune, my teacher and I figure out what scales to apply to over all the chords. The end result it sounds OK but not very jazzy. I am afraid if I keep going down this path, its not going to get any better. I also started playing in an ensemble and fear when I have to take a solo sometimes because its just meh.

The more I read online, the more I see bebop players really didn't think in terms of matching scales to a chord. The scale gives you the chord tones and color tones, but doesn't really tell you the hierarchy of tones. Further, if you get locked into just applying a specific scale, you miss out on chromatics and enclosures. Is it better to just use chord scale theory for constructing chords and then think more in terms of guide tones, enclosures, and chromatic passing notes for jazz?

Maybe my teacher doesn't think I am ready for that next step yet and that's why it hasn't came up? I will bring this up with my teacher and I trust the guidance but also wanted to get a pulse for what others may think.

Is a high DFI very rare in a normal healthy male with good sperm parameters?

When my wife and I did IUI and IVF, the topic of DNA fragmentation never came up. There is a lot of stuff of the internet about this but in practice what do you usually see? I would assume that if you have good sperm parameters, aren’t very old, don’t drink or smoke, have a healthy body fat, no varicoceles, no cancer, and good lifestyle factors, then DNA fragmentation is not something to even worry about. Considering how expensive IVF is, though, you’d expect to just get it tested. But is it true the only reason to get it tested is multiple miscarriages or failed IVF treatments with young eggs, since the odds of it being a barrier to conception exceedingly rare?

Any fathers of egg donor babies here?

My wife has a very low ovarian reserve, which basically means she has very few good eggs left and because procreation is a game of chance, we opted for IVF and IUI. After all the fertility drugs, drs visits, failed attempts, its been emotionally exhausting for us both. Its been a whirlwind of emotions like jealousy at others having children easily, anger that is happening and sadness for being powerless to this. The possibility of having a biological child together is minute but fortunately there are other options. She is on board with me using my sperm and an anonymous donor egg to create embryos. She would be able to experience pregnancy and we would have a child from a woman that at least resembles her.

Maybe its because its very rare, but I haven't been able to find or talk to any fathers whose wife had to use donor eggs. Besides gay celebrity couples, I don't know a single person who has a donor child.

Curious to know what its been like.
