Does anyone else want to delete their early work?

Like most things in life you look back at your early work and you cringe. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist and want my entire album to be hits or something I think is close to perfect, but I look at these deep tracks, or these sappy fillers and I’m like their ok, but too many mistakes your more experienced mind can see. I just can’t fight the urge to either delete them or make better versions..

But most importantly my question is will this hurt my Spotify ranking? Not matter at all? Or could help?

Best route for meta ads

How many songs do you promote?
Do you also promote your playlist too?
How many ads per song?
Do you slam your budget or $5 a day?
Do you have the best results sending to artist page or direct to song or a mix?

What i learned in 3 months of making music

  1. You’re more marketer than you are musician.
  2. If you’re not a good marketer it doesn’t matter how good your music is.
  3. Suno makes better music than 99% of music out there but people won’t admit that.
  4. Making music is hard, even with ai, it’s extremely difficult.
  5. It’s difficult to judge your own music.
  6. Composition is more important than lyrics.
  7. Making music is extremely fun and addicting, and listening to your own stuff is very rewarding.
  8. People appreciating it and saving it means a lot.
  9. Song length, intro, outro all matter. If it’s all about marketing, then your song has to almost be an AD of why others should replay it.
  10. People like my cheesy easy listening songs more than I thought.
  11. Tik tok is obnoxious. The people, cringe Gen Z, the system is rigged for bullshit posts.
  12. Waterfall release is useless for new people.
  13. I learned that if you get bored with your track others will to.
  14. I’ve learned that sometimes I want to delete half my songs and start
    Over.
  15. I think I’m pretty good at this, but it feels like without a huge budget or a lucky viral video I’ll sit in 1k listener jail forever.
  16. Despite all this being close to impossible, I don’t quit when things get tough. I’d personally be happy to break even honestly.

Vent about the ai hate and Suno

I totally understand the hate to an extent. But it’s gone almost full cancel mode without any intelligent discussion, just mindless sheep. And if you post on tik tok, every virgin teen can’t wait to say ai slop. I filtered most of it out but it’s like the scarlet letter on anything even remotely ai.

Now, some of it is Sunos fault, it’s almost like Suno is gatekeeping originality to not butt heads with studios. But someone should not be able to listen to songs and tell its ai, Suno gives us maybe 10 voices. All with a little pitchy voices that’s a dead giveaway. For $30 a month we should be able to get voices we want. Also the studio is garbage, we should be at the point now where we can make a song dynamically as we go or redo certain parts. Also we should be able to master it without metadata. Make it a little warmer. They can’t be far from making it perfect. Why can’t we even have settings to make it a little less perfect. Let the labels keep up with us. We are already at a disadvantage.

The real heart felt vent: my songs don’t take 2 minutes to make. Most of us taking this serious can take weeks on a song. How many duds we made before our good ones how much editing just to have a scarlet letter on us. Spotify doing this to us too. Why does it matter what paintbrush we use to make art? When the end result is the same? Suno is a paint brush.

My stuff is good, like really really good. It’s taken me three albums to refine this art. My songs are better than most the stuff currently on the radio. And that’s not ego, I love music, and listen to a lot of music. Not saying all artist, I don’t even like to say better but different. But the reality is Suno is usually better than most songs. But because there’s not a real person behind it, people are weird about it.

Barrier to entry isn’t supposed to be easy but it’s almost impossible without $. But there’s almost no reason if you spend this money then it’s labeled ai slop.

Which brings me to marketing, as a former marketer it’s Ridiculous, Tik tok is so mind numbing ridiculous, it’s mind boggling. It’s not even meant to be value it’s meant to hold your attention and confuse you, I knew it was brain rot but they are taking it to another whole level where it promotes very very cheap tactics to grab attention. There’s some small value on it but the Gen Z posts are beyond worse than cringe. Not all of you, but most, sorry not sorry.

I feel for everyone here who doesn’t really care about the money but doesn’t want their art sitting in the void. I’d be super happy getting a million plays making zero cents. And i know alot of you would too. So just to be clear im not mad im not a millionaire from this, most of us aren’t doing it for that, but would it be nice to make a side income for most of us? Sure. But if Suno keeps it gate kept and keeps it a semi simple toy, it will continue to be not taken seriously.

The truth: some songs took me 100 bad ones and hours; then I edit. Lyrics, sometimes days to make. And yet, it’s labeled as slop.

And now Spotify wants to tell everyone it’s ai.

Why listen to a worse song because the persons real? That’s like not using a calculator because it’s not as real as your brain.

At this point, I’m writing prompts to make it feel and sound less ai. Half the work now is taking out the watermarks which is almost impossible, but Suno is gatekeeping this too. Or maybe that’s where they are in the software and they can’t help it either way, Suno needs to stop pretending this can be for commercial when they don’t try to make it feel commercial, by giving us like 6 voices.

We need more options to be more in control of voices. We need options to make it sound more human. And we need options to master it much easier. And we should be able to have it without the watermarks and metadata.

The good part: I absolutely love making music, it’s addicting it’s fun, and it gives us small people without a studio and a genetically good singing voice a chance. But if I work all week on a song, just for it to be an ignored cause suno. Then, I’ll probably have to delete the software since it’s not bringing any fruit. I’m not here to just play for friends and family.

TLDR: ai hate has gone way too far. Suno is gatekeeping features to make songs more realistic.
