What's some interesting transmasc symbolism or history?
Hi, I'm starting testosterone soon and thinking about getting a tattoo to commemorate it. I think the chemical symbol or a needle is cool but it's also pretty simple, and I'm really into symbolism. This is a blatant excuse to get a tattoo and I'm not trying to pretend otherwise but I feel like if I want it to be meaningful I might as well go all in, right? I'm open to any recommendations of any variety, except maybe words unless they're really cool, and even then I'd probably need to read the source material before getting it tattooed.
Any symbols with historical context are super interesting to me, including homages to historical trans men or movements, as well as things like flowers, animals, and bugs. I'm absolutely going down a rabbit hole about this, and I honestly love research. The meaning doesn't need to be clear on first glance or anything, I think personal meaning and connection with the symbols are more important. It's to commemorate me going on T but doesn't need to be about that specifically. I feel very connected to this community, especially historical figures who struggled to get us where we are that are usually not given the recognition they deserve, and want to learn more about our history in general. The local tattoo shop I'm looking at specializes in american traditional, which is luckily a style I like, so translating well into that style is an added bonus but not necessary.
Thanks for any help, I'm excited to hear what people recommend! (I also posted this on r /trans masc)
