finally free.

I have been learning piano for ~5 years with spotty practicing and I have had such a hard time with improv and having a song in my head that I have no idea how to translate to piano.

Well I don’t know what happened, but something clicked a couple months ago with chords and the way they stack together and I can suddenly improv ANYTHING now. The freedom is indescribable.

I feel like that bike picture where I have just been pedaling upwards for so long and I’m finally over the hill!

The parallels between cultivation and Ballet

For me cultivation and ballet have always seemed incredibly similar. Something you dedicate your life to progressing in, which takes almost constant physical and mental training from the time you are very young even into adulthood. It comes with prestige and is also incredibly difficult to break into if you have not been doing it for many many years.

It’s also why I think I connect with Shen Jiu and sort of understand how insanely difficult and the feeling of lost potential he must have had, as just like ballet you must start very young and it’s really not a thing or in the very least not an easy path to begin once you’re past a certain age.

Idk!!!

is this classical improvisation?

I can’t really read music pretty much at all, and I do not know my scales or chords but I can play some pieces by rote memorization and I can also improvise though it’s probably highly incorrect.

As far as this goes- would this be considered classical improvisation?

I truly have no idea what I am playing, it’s pretty much completely subconscious.

For example, I can guarantee I will not be able to replicate what I played in the audio again.

I would love any advice or suggestions for learning to read/write music! 🎼
