Confused about "White Crane Spreads Its Wings" – Which hand and hip rotation is correct?

Confused about "White Crane Spreads Its Wings" – Which hand and hip rotation is correct?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently practicing the Yang style 24-form and I've run into a contradiction while watching two different instructional videos for "White Crane Spreads Its Wings" (Bai He Liang Chi). I want to make sure I'm building the right muscle memory.

Here are the differences I noticed at the very end of the movement:

  • Video 1: The instructor rotates the right hand/palm inward (facing somewhat toward the body/left) at the final position. Also, they distinctly turn their hips to the left at the end.
  • Video 2: The instructor rotates the right palm outward (facing more forward/out). Additionally, with no hip rotation to the left at the final stance.

Could anyone clarify which version is considered standard or more correct? Is this just a stylistic difference between lineages, or is one of them a common mistake regarding the martial application (like blocking or neutralizing)?

I would really appreciate your insights on the proper mechanics for the right hand and hips here. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Just to clarify, I don’t follow either of those instructors. They’re just random videos that happen to show the two different ways of doing the movement.

Has anyone tested the new Steam Controller for flight / driving / motorcycle sims?

Has anyone tried the new Steam Controller for simulation games?

I’m really curious about how well its gyro works outside the usual aiming / mouse-like use cases.

I keep thinking it could have some really interesting applications for sim games, but I haven’t seen many people talking about it yet.

A few examples I’m wondering about:

Flight / space sims
Using gyro as direct pitch/roll input, so the aircraft or spacecraft moves with the physical motion of the controller.

It sounds like it could feel surprisingly immersive — almost like a mini motion-flight setup without needing a full HOTAS.

Driving games
Using it as a steering wheel by rotating the controller.

Obviously it won’t replace an actual wheel (no force feedback, no resistance), but I’m wondering whether it feels good enough to be a fun middle ground between a standard gamepad and proper wheel hardware.

Motorcycle games (MXGP, RIDE, etc.)
This is the one I’m most curious about.

Since the gyro tracks both roll and pitch, in theory it seems like it could work for:

  • leaning / steering left and right
  • simulating pushing or pulling the handlebars by pitching the controller forward/backward

That actually sounds like it could feel pretty natural for bike games.

Has anyone experimented with this?

Does it work well in practice, or does it end up feeling gimmicky / too imprecise for actual gameplay?

PCVR Walkabout minigolf multiplayer

So I know rookie's version of Walkabout Minigolf (at least an old one) multiplayer does work, even in crossplay with PSVR, but I don't know if the PCVR version multiplayer work. I would prefer the PCVR version to save space in my Quest, but, can anybody confirm that multiplayer also works on PCVR version?
