diamox

not particularly looking for any advice just wanted to say that i’m starting diamox tomorrow for the first time and im very anxious! starting at 250mg twice a day and going up by 250 each week until im at 750mg. i’ve always had anxiety about starting new medication because of a bad experience years ago but i just really want these to work/not be too unpleasant side effect wise. how quickly did you guys notice side effects when starting? i read that they work very fast but what about side effects

lumbar puncture headache

had my lumbar puncture just over 48 hours ago and thought i was in the clear but got smacked with the worst headache i’ve ever felt in my life to the point of crying. it feels better when laying down and i’ve seen online that i shouldn’t be concerned unless i have warning signs like high fever or nausea and stuff like that so i just wanted to ask what everyone else’s experiences were and how they knew if they needed medical intervention for a possible leak? i’m assuming rn that it’s just a typical post LP headache and need some reassurance because i’m just terrified of getting a leak

lumbar puncture

Just had my first ever lumbar puncture to rule out any infections and get my opening pressure. Wasn’t too bad but they did struggle to find the right spot because 1. im a little larger and the needle wasn’t quite reaching and 2. my spine bones were a little narrow but on the last try they got it! opening pressure was 38 and closing was 14. looking for tips for recovery that helped anyone else here with theirs :))

hydration

to my knowledge, sodium is something we want to be avoiding with this condition right? so how come everyone takes a bunch of electrolytes which have sodium in them? would it be better to take one without sodium in if i have options like that around me? 🤔

neck pain

hi all, i’m still kinda new to all this and i’m still yet to be put on medication or have a lumbar puncture but i thought i’d share something that’s helped my neck pain! i’ve heard magnesium is good for pain in general but i’ve been using a magnesium spray and i apply it once a day on the back of my neck and within 3 days of use it’s had a pretty good effect on the pain. ofc im currently not under any treatment im still waiting for my neurology appointment but i found this helps and wanted to share for anyone struggling with neck pain as it may help someone :)

new diagnosis and scared

got an eye test due to headaches that revealed a swollen optic nerve, got testing at the hospital for it twice and told it’s likely IIH. pain was manageable for the most part until the last few days it’s been really bad and i went back to the hospital to see if i can get anything for the pain while i wait for a neurology appointment that wasn’t even booked until today with no luck. urgent referral has been put through for neurology/lumbar puncture and idk how long that might take and the pain is so bad that i’m taking something every day which is probably causing MOH and i just feel scared and a bit hopeless from how fast this has all happened and the pain i’m experiencing. what if this doesn’t get better? how am i meant to cope with this pain? luckily my vision hasn’t been affected yet (touch wood) but im terrified of going blind. just dont know how to feel about all of this besides scared.

electrolyte help

so i’ve heard that increased sodium is bad for IIH but that electrolytes are good for the potassium depletion you get from taking diamox and i’m just curious if this is safe to have as a daily supplement of potassium/electrolytes that lack sodium? might seem like a stupid question but i don’t really know what any of this means ^ haha

upgrading storage

So currently i only have a 128gb sd card as i cant really afford a higher one but in the future if i want to upgrade, is it as simple as moving everything from one sd card to another and it’ll all work? or is there more steps to keep saves and data and all that stuff
