De-energised meter - Tariff confusion please help.
Young couple, just moved into our first place about 2.5 months ago ( New build, small detached 2 bed house ) and we're having a few issues with BG.
De energised / inactive smart meter
Not sure what tariff suits.
The day we moved in i took all our meter readings and BG is a dual supplier for our property. Had a few issues setting up our accounts with them and what not but thats all sorted now. The only repeated issue im having is our electricity. We have not recieved a single bill yet. Ive called up countless times trying to get it sorted but they keep saying the house shows as de energised, our meter says inactive but still gives us our readings.
They have asked me for meter readings which have been provided, then asked me to send pictures via email of my meter and it's readings from day 1 to 7 days later.
Every time I call up they never seem to get it sorted and just put it in for "support" we aren't really sure what to do. Again we have never recieved a bill for our electric use yet.
2.
Were currently on a standard variable tariff paying 26.61p per kWh
51.86p daily charge
Within about 2 months we have used about 336kWh according to our meter.
The alternative rates BG are offering
Cap tracker march28 v2
28.11p per kWh
52.40p daily charge
Exit fee £25
Fix and fall October 28 v2
28.81p per kWh
61.21p daily charge
Exit fee £125
Fixed lighter October 27 v2
32.42p per kWh
43.40p daily charge
Exit fee £50
As of right now BG estimate our monthly cost will be around £80 on the standard variable tariff, with every other tariff being at a minimum of £10 extra each month.
Were not really sure what suits us, my partner works during the day, unfortunately ive gone through some unforeseen hardship this year and im currently unemployed so I am home all day.
For reference we are renting this house as we are waiting until we find a home to buy, we estimate we will live here for about 1 year, 2 at a complete push so things like Exit fees etc i would need to take into account.
The way I see it is were better off being on the standard variable as it seems the cheapest so far with no Exit fees. My only worry is price increases as we are new to bill paying and with only one income (absolutely no benefits coming in from the government) we are worried about making money stretch until im back in employment.
Don't even get me started in the gas thats just as confusing.
