Comedy and Disability

Hey all I'm not sure if it's ok to post this here but if anyone can help me it's probably Reddit. I am a 43M with CP part time on crutches part time in my chair. I am a stand up comedy enthusiast. I swear I remember one of the more popular current comedians talking about doing crowd work they had a power chair user in the crowd. The way I remember the story the comedian skipped over the disabled individual. To which the disabled individual called them out for avoiding. The comedian then made a disability joke and moved on. I was watching Fluffy (Gabriel Iglesias) when I had the memory. I tried to look it up but the internet was no help. Does anyone have any recollection of what I could be talking about?? Please help.

Also if anyone knows any disabled comedians that I haven't seen yet I am always looking for recommendations. I know Josh Blue, AJ Wilkerson and Ahren Belisle, I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.

Looking for some water ski equipment

Hi all. I am a 43M with CP. I have been waterskiing since 8 years old. Currently I am using an old school Kan-Ski Comp 1. I am looking for a new challenge. I know Kan-Ski had a Super Comp but I have been unable to find one and I have been searching for a few years. I also know that Liquid Access has the Phoenix ski but I have never seen one of those in person at all. Does anyone have either of these that they don't use? Also does anyone know of any sort of program on the East Coast where I could try the equipment before I lay down that kind of cash? Last if you have experience with high level waterskiing which equipment should I be trying to track down? Is there something else out there that I am unaware of?

I'm looking for snowski equipment options

Hey all I am new to this sub but not new to Adaptive sports at all. I am 43M with CP. I have been monoskiing since age 5. I literally watched the entire sports change more than once. At my peak I was a Paralympic level racer. Anyway I have been out of the game for a few years and last winter I went and had a rough time. It was actually the catalyst for getting back into shape. To date I have lost 40lbs and I'm not quite done yet. My "current" equipment is a Revolution Pro Comp (told you I have been doing this for a while). Other than getting back into shape it was suggested to me by some dear friends that since I am done racing I might want to consider a more recreational ski (that was a blow to the old man's ego). Anyway I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what's out there. I am not a beginner and I want to be able to ski any terrain like I used to but my buddies are correct I'm not a racer anymore either. What should I check out? Also does anyone know anywhere on the East Coast I might be able to try some sleds before I just throw down that much cash?

Carbon Fiber wheelchairs what do we think?

I am a 43M. I have CP. I have used a manual chair and/or forearm crutches my whole life. I was lucky enough that for most of my life up to this point I have been about 80% crutches 20% wheelchair. In the last few years as I age I find that it is much closer to 50/50. So of course as luck would have it I ended up with my least favorite chair ever. Currently I am using a TiLite ZRA. Given the way friends of mine raved about it I expected a lot more out of this chair. Don't get me wrong it isn't absolutely terrible but it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I am also aware that one of the reasons it isn't what I expected because the only DME provider in my area is horrible. I was screwed over on this chair in several different ways.

I got the chair in September of 24 so I believe I would be eligible for a new one (by insurance) in September of 29. However I have recently gotten new insurance so I am considering seeing if I can get a new chair now. I saw a couple new carbon fiber chairs but I have never heard much about them. Does anyone have any thoughts? Which chair(s) do people love? Which chairs are great and flying under the radar? Also what is your opinion should I try for a new chair now or wait for another 2 years and see what kind of products they are putting out then?

Power Assist

Hey all I am new to this sub but not new to wheelchair life. 43M born with CP. I use forearm crutches and AFO'S at times an my wheels at other times. At the moment I have a TiLite ZRA (not a horrible chair but definitely not my favorite). There was a point in my life that I was 80% crutches 20% wheelchair, now it is much closer to 50/50. It is killing me in the ego but I think it might be time for a power assist. I'm worried about becoming lazy or reliant or lose some of my independence. So I guess I have 2 questions. 1. Should I try to get a power assist? 2. Which one should I get and why?

Looking for an author

Hey yinz I am looking for a fanfic author that I at one point long ago knew IRL. At the time she was going by Annie Sewell Jennings. I know her stuff was exceptionally popular back in 97- maybe 02. We lost touch around that time and as far as I know she fell off the Fanfic map around then too. I know this is an incredibly long shot but if anyone knows how to get in touch with Miss Annie I would be forever grateful. I have some information about mutual friends that I really think she would appreciate. Thanks in advance if this reaches the right person.
