Pre-First Time Playing Valhalla

I’m a life-long fan of the franchise and I’m not too critical when it comes to the games. There isn’t a game so far I’ve strongly disliked but I do have my favorites. I’m a completionist and I’ve played AC1- Odyssey and Odyssey got long for me only towards the end with the bonus missions after the main story. One negative thing I’ve heard about Valhalla is the length. A couple of questions that I’m just looking for honest feedback (also if any of what I’ve heard is incorrect, please lmk):

  1. I’ve heard the side content being necessary for main story progress makes it long. Is the side content meaningful or is it just filler like dumb fetch quests?

  2. I played Odyssey pretty consistently, aka no gaps where I put the game down for more than a few days. Does Valhalla need to be played straight through or can I put it down and come back to it without going backwards?

  3. Not normally into DLC but since I’m here, is the Valhalla DLC worth it? I just have the base game atm

I don’t understand all the hate

This team should never have even had a chance at the wild card in December. They have been playing playoff hockey most of the season. They put in the grit and determination to climb the division and secure the first division title in 15 years. I understand being frustrated they aren’t dominating Montreal but the Habs are still a Round 2 playoff team. There is a reason why each round is 7 games. You can’t win everything, one player doesn’t make up a whole team. Thompson got us to the playoffs, he has kept us in some key wins. I feel a lot of the haters miss the fact that Montreal has a game plan to stop him from shooting the puck.We have two games left to beat Montreal. It’s not over until it’s over. Just like a popular quarterback in Buffalo said last September “Just have a little faith”
