Food related things that irrationally annoy you

Im not sure why but i always get bothered by

- bakeries that charge for tomato sauce when you buy a pie/sausageroll/adjacent

- fish and chips places that charge for tartare sauce

- pasta places that serve carbonara with bacon instead of guanciale or at the very least pancetta

The guy two booths down from me thinks I have IBS or Crohn's

Im incredibly efficient at my job so Im afforded a lot of time to do nonwork related things.

At home this isnt an issue as theres plenty of things for me to do without the prying eyes of the people in my office.

In the office on the other hand, not much to do after ive done my rounds chatting to people who i want to chat with. Sometimes the lifts can be slow so i often just duck to the bathroom and hide in there because it looks bad to always be on youe phone at your desk.

Anyway, this fella sitting two booths down from me and in another department comes up to me and asks if im okay. Im confused so I was like yeah, could be closer to friday but all things considered fine. He says he's noticed i go bathroom a lot for extended periods and im always at the desk closest to the disabled bathroom (our side of the floor is on the opposite side of the male bathrooms) and out of being put on the spot I say yeah sometimes I get an upset stomach.

He says oh yeah like IBS? I tell him i havent gone to get diagnosed or checked and he then goes on a monologue about how his father had Ulcerative Colitis and passed away from a subsequent cancer and then suggest i get checked in case my case leads to Crohn's or UC or something.

Now i have to keep up this charade :|

Bless him for keeping an eye out for me but maybe i gotta find a new bludge spot

Your personal 'shouldn't have done that' or blunders?

Okay so we all have stories of incompetent colleagues or managers but what about stupid things you have done yourself?

Was in the bullpen earlier and senior management were hosting a morning tea / meet and greet.

Was grabbing some pastries and two of them came over to say hi. Ive met rhem before briefly but never had a normal chat.

Anyway their names were Diana and Fiona and I had said 'Ah my two favorite princesses'. Then it hit me that it was likely a terrible thing to say despite them both laughing.

Ive cleared off all my work for the day and now am on job boards in the case I get the chop randomly or at the next restructure.

Dog attack assistance

Walking dog near home.

Two off leash dogs escaped their homes and attacked mine.

Owner of those two dogs took us to vet

They say they will cooperate but have had to 'find money' and havent been able to front either days of hospital fees.

Estimatesd costs currently north of 20-30

We have insurance.

Whats the process?

Do we need to report to police? How do we make them cover cost of gap and excess? Can they string us along forever with finding funds?

What happens to your record if companies go through an M&A?

Just a hypothetical.

So someone that worked at my company had an(if not multiple) incidences while drunk at a company event. While he was not formally terminated, he was strongly suggested to resign which he did.

He then went on to work with another firm in the industry. Now a few years down the track, one company acquired the other and he may potentially work together or alongside the previous other party.

What happens to your company record in this instance?

No payrise but 9 day fortnights - would you take?

Currently in a role Im okay with in a company i like and colleagues i like. Work is easy and i have it down pat so i get a lot of free time. Pay is $x+10%bonus

Got offered a new role externally. Pay works out to be the same but instead of bonus that amount is just in the pay (EOY total is the same) which i think is better - having more pay per fortnight over a huge dopamine hit once a year.

However there is a 9 day fortnight optional if you work an extra 30min a day. Work will be more duties Id imagine, location is a smidge closer but will have to learn new systems and earn my stripes again

At what point is fun not enough M32 F22

Not for me but a close friend.

He came out of a bad separation two years ago then last year while not looking met someone unplanned and they immediately hit it off. It started off as just casual sex and smoking weed into dinners/meals and then basically they were exclusive from there and its been a year

They are very similar in what they like, their hobbies, palate for food etc. When we ask what he likes about her, the answers are generally 'fear of being alone, comfort of company, fun, sex'

The issue is that they're from two different worlds.

Besides age which isn't a huge issue, can be one especially at their age and wanting different things. Our concern is that say this ends in a few years, he loses out while shes still plenty young.

Next issue is geographic. She does not plan on being in the country forever. Forseeably until end of 2027 and maybe a smidge longer. He on the other hand is tied down by careee and mortgage.

Another issue is that she is from generational wealth and he while on a high income will never be able to give her the life she may expect one day. This could be us being cynical for his sake. He reports that she is a bit lazy and unmotivated having never had to work for money and is barely scraping by uni.

Given that their future isn' even certain and the positives are mostly superficial, when is fun not enough for a long term healthy relationship. We're worried he's going to become too deep into a relationship with someone who probably isn' good for them long term and will get hurt again.

He has been spiraling and we are concerned.

What would peoples mindsets be with these circumstances? Say both for yourself and if you were looking out for a friend.
