USAA said they have pictures of my property showing no damage, but won’t release them to me. I have pictures showing damage following a hail storm. They are refusing coverage. USAA didn’t bring a ladder or a drone when they came out to the house, so I know no pictures exist. I also have cameras giving 360 coverage around my house so I know they don’t get on the roof.

They are lying. I’ve been with them for over 20 years.

Not anymore.

Don’t even think about banning this post - I have not violated any rules - this is not an attack on an individual and I’m posting facts.

Very new to practical shooting and I’m trying to overcome some habits that I picked up in target shooting that are not at all conducive to good results in practical shooting.

I’d really appreciate thoughts on how to fix this.

I feel like I’m taking forever to manage the recoil and get the gun to settle. The dot stays in the window pretty well, and there’s not much at all in terms of muzzle flip (wrists breaking is approximately zero). I feel like I get a decently sharp recoil impulse that drives the gun and my arms up as a unit pivoting at my shoulders. Then I take a leisurely stroll getting settled back on target.

I’ve tried rolling elbows out to engage lats, gripping harder, straightening the horseshoe and a bunch of other stuff. Those are techniques that have helped significantly in locking my wrists up, but this problem is pivoting around my shoulders and slow movement back down.

I feel like if I muscle it down, I’ll be introducing bad habits, so I’ve been focusing on eliminating the rise instead of trying to control it after it happens.

Maybe that’s not the right approach?

Some background:
Shooting precision, I basically tried to put everything on my skeletal structure and remove as much musculature from the equation as possible and to avoid putting anything at all into the gun. The way that it makes sense for me to verbalize this would be as if I poured every ounce of my being into sight alignment and trigger control, then - as soon as the shot broke - said, “my work here is done - call me when we’re ready for the next shot” and allowed the recoil to just ride wherever it wanted to go.

I have had problems with my grip - strong hand doing pretty well, while weak hand seemed only dimly aware that we were at the range and clearly just not with the program. Big separation/movement between support hand and gun.

I have fixed that - while maybe not perfect, it is no longer my biggest problem - or at least it doesn’t seem to me to be. Support hand is locked to gun and both wrists are locked.

Current problem: Recoil drives gun and arms up,pivoting at the shoulders and then slow motion return to zero.
