Custom Target

Hello, I’m making a custom high accuracy shooting target for my friend. It’s gonna be from a 6”x6” plate of ar500 and meant for rifles to test his long race accuracy. I wanted to ask if one the plate should be hardened and what thickness it should be. It’s gonna be 100 yards away or more and it’s gonna be shot with Scar heavy some 7.62x39 rounds some 5.56 some .22 long and rounds from different bolt actions.

Ear Protection With Good Music Sound

Question for folks:

I am a range rat (at the range all the time). I love to listen to music while I shoot and have tried to many Bluetooth range headphones that are fine with blocking sound but absolutely suck when trying to listen to music.

I am looking for what people consider to be the best (regardless of price). While I don't use price as the arbiter of what is good, I have tried many (and I mean many) sub $100, sub $200, sub $300 headphones and they are either uncomfortable, the noise protection is suspect, there is that annoying low hiss or the music sounds like I am playing it on a Fisher Price radio. Walker, 3M, ISO, Razor, Sordin, etc...in ear, over the ear, behind the neck, blah, blah, blah.

I have even tried my own setup with custom in-ear molding and high-end consumer (Senhiesser, Bose, Sony B&O, etc.) headphones over them, or small high-end earbuds with over the ear shooting muffs (pick your brand, I have a lot of them). I don't mind doing this but the heaphones over the molds just muffles the music sound and I'm skeptical that the other way is really protecting my ears since even the smallest in-ear music buds create a small space with the shooting muffs...(also this gets very uncomfortable very quickly).

I find myself jumping between multiple ear setups in a single session to compensate. While I don't mind doing this it just means lots of trips to the locker and less time punishing Charlie for him just standing by his friend Alpha. (hehe). Poor Charlie - don't know what he has done to me to catch so many rounds to the face.

Has anyone found high-end, hearing protection that plays good music and are still comfortable after 4 - 5 hours at the range.

I typically put 1,000+ rounds down range a week (sometimes as much as 2,500 if I am lucky). Sometimes I want to be in the zone if I am practicing drills seriously, but often I am there to relax, decompress after a long day and get off a couple of shots while listening to my favorite "get hype" music.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it helps, I am usually at an indoor range (will do outside when with coach or doing mobility skills/drills but no music then) and am exclusively (90% of the time) shooting handguns.

Happy Shooting Fellas!

My wife and I go on surprise dates. It’s my turn and I’ve decided to take us skeet shooting. Can you guys lend some advice?

We will be going Thursday in Michigan. For reference it will be 88 with heat index of 92. Since she doesn’t know where we are going, I just have to direct her attire. Are shorts acceptable? Or will ejected shells be hot and hit on the legs type of thing? T-shirt is fine? Thanks!

What now?

It’s been a year since I posted my 1st thread in this subreddit asking for help on having an HK USP for my 1st gun, and now I bought one myself, it’s actually the compact variant ( I didn’t know there were variants with guns itself), anyhow do yall have some ideas what should I do and not do, like maintenance and stuff?

i’m also wondering if i could customize it, if so what do yall recommend?

Anyone know the make of this bullet

It says 357 Magnum with two stars separated by a curved slash, appears to be FM or FMJ in the very least

25 yards mix of steady and rapid.

P365 Fuse with Critical Defense 115 grain. This is the first time passing defense rounds through the Fuse to make sure they feed properly.

What an M1903 Springfield does to a 3/4" steel spinner from 60ft.

Yes, I know we are no marksmen.

Just a few middle aged men screwing around at the range. This gun hasn't been fired in over 60 years.
