There’s no good irl crafting places

I don’t know if anyone relates to this, and maybe my idea is unrealistic but there is NO where to just go and pick random supplies to craft with full creativity.

90% of what I see when I look for something is pottery painting. And, I love pottery painting… but I want to MAKE something with my hands.

The other 10% is just classes where everyone makes the same thing. I hate those classes so much because it makes me feel like I’m back in art class at school. We all make the same thing, there’s no creativity. When I say I want to craft, I mean I want it to be based on the item I created itself not having the whole point be the creation of it where we all follow a tutorial.

I saw one place at the Providence mall in Rhode Island and I went in to check it out hoping it’d be like what I want and it was better than what I just named except you picked one specific craft with specific supplies and paid to do it. I don’t like this simply because I don’t like being told how to do my craft and what I have to use.

All the facebook craft groups I find, you have to bring your own supplies. Which is fine! I just want a place with options to choose from as well.

All I want is a place where I can walk in, pay by the hour or the materials. Look at shelves with buttons, ribbon, scraps of paper, fabric samples, etc. And just… make whatever I want to with whatever I want to. I should be able to introduce myself and sit at a table with other crafters and just converse about nerdy art stuff while I’m making a collage, the person sitting beside me is painting water colors, another person is making one of those clay face puppets, and the other is finger weaving some yarn without a worker standing over our shoulders telling us what to do…

Why has no one brought this to life yet? Do people not realise just how much WASTE would be saved by being donated to a free-for-all-supplies craft bar? So many plastic bottle caps, soda can tabs, shredded paper, news paper clippings, yarn, socks, buttons, miniatures, etc. go to waste and straight into the ocean when they could be upcycled at a place like this. I’d even be ok if places like home depot donated their little paper paint samples I could make a rainbow ordered scrap book with those little paint samples squares!

It would be such a good date spot, or a place for parents to take their kids. I’m so bored with the current public-craft state of society right now.

I cooked without having to sit down today for the first time in months

Since I first started a few years ago, every time I cook, I usually have to have a chair or stool to sit on while I’m cooking because I cannot stand for long periods of time and the heat from the stove makes it worse.

Today I was able to cook without sitting once, yay me!

AITAH (22F) for essentially “stealing” my neighbor’s kitten?

Before you automatically say “yes” just know, I (22F) have lived in neighbourhoods with neighbourhood cats and I have never took one, only petted because I knew they weren’t my pet.

However, my neighbour who lives across the street from me two houses down has a kitten who has been coming up to me for the past 3 months or so. She was always very flinchy but I just assumed she was skittish. She would hiss and pop you if you moved even too fast towards her. Me and my boyfriend still always pet her and let her go on her merry way and I never even thought for a second to steal her. But one day, he was outside on the porch with my mom’s (now ex) boyfriend and he said the kitten and her owner came up to him to buy weed off of my mom’s ex (then bf) and he kept yelling at the kitten. My boyfriend said he threatened the cat saying “don’t rub up on my leg, because you know I’ll kick you” and then proceeded to!!! He kicked this young kitten!! My boyfriend told me the next day and ever since then when she’s come into our yard I would give her extra love. After a while I noticed she felt safe with my hands but would still hiss at and pop my feet or shoes, which just confirmed to me she is being subjected to kicking. I also noticed she was extremely underweight and I could feel her ribs very strongly. I started feeding her some of our cats food that he dislikes these past 3 weeks and she has been gaining weight. The kitten now stays on our porch and genuinely won’t leave. I look outside and she’s out there all night, sleeping. I wake up in the morning and she’s out there waiting by the door at 8AM. She will not leave the porch unless she follows me into the backyard. I started calling her Reese after Reese’s puffs because she’s a calico and her black reminded me of chocolate, her orange reminded me of peanut butter, and her white reminded me of milk. It might be too soon to tell but I think she answers to Reese and I genuinely don’t know what her name was before or if she had one.

I started letting her inside 3 days ago and told my mom that I was going to probably to just keep the cat, afterall I don’t kick her or yell at her and I fed her to a healthy weight. She doesn’t seem to want to go back to her old house, and I don’t blame her. My mom started telling me that that was wrong because she’s not my cat and she doesn’t want the man to get mad but I genuinely don’t care.

AITAH?

This toy company reskinned the Apple Family barn

I can’t believe I recognized this immediately at dollar tree the other day upon first glance!
