Consequences | Unleaded gas is $4.19 today around the metro.....

As predicted, the 2nd week state fair people are going to have an even more expensive time while the fake out of state candidate tells them everything is fine.

Ashley tells them everything is fine, Meeks says everything is fine, and Chuck takes selfies with a guy who apparently loves sluts.

To add to that, Hegseth is doing some kind of grindr event, Top Nunn while our people on ships are out of toilet paper and food, and RFK is shopping Scheels with fake Iowa candidate guy to go catch and eat some cancer fish from our polluted waters.

Are we great yet?

Consequences | Back to school Costs In Iowa up 11%

This applies to public schools, Iowa’s voucher-grift private schools, and home “schools.”

For the 2026–27 school year, the average family is looking at nearly $4,000 per child in back-to-school costs, up 10.7% in one year. School supplies are up 7.7%, and typical lunch items are up 10.9%. Half of parents say they’re cutting other household spending just to cover back-to-school expenses.

And here in Iowa, we’ve managed to add our own special layer of absurdity.

If your kid attends an accredited private school, Iowa will now put $8,148 per student into a taxpayer-funded Education Savings Account for the 2026–27 school year. That program is now universally available to eligible Iowa students attending accredited nonpublic schools.

So whether your kid is sitting in a public-school classroom, a taxpayer-subsidized private-school classroom, or at the kitchen table being told dinosaurs missed the Ark because they were late, you’re still buying the same notebooks, shoes, lunch boxes and food.

And those prices are getting ugly.

School supplies

A typical school-supply list is up 7.7% in one year:

  • Lunch boxes: +26.8%
  • Notebooks: +23%
  • Index cards: +22.2%
  • Notebook paper: +20%
  • Tissues: +20%

Why?

A lot of this stuff is imported.

Newell Brands, which makes Sharpie, Paper Mate, Expo and Elmer’s, reported $174 million in tariff costs in 2025 and expects another $130 million in 2026. The company responded by raising prices.

That’s the magical tariff money tree we were promised:
China gets a tariff. Newell Brands gets a bill. You get a more expensive box of markers.

Food

Packing school lunches is projected to cost families more than $3,800 this school year, almost $400 more than last year.

Some of the increases:

  • Sliced ham: roughly +12%
  • Turkey: roughly +12%
  • Sandwich bread: +21.8%
  • Apple juice: +20%
  • Animal crackers: +15.7%

But sure, tell the Iowa parent staring at the Hy-Vee receipt how fantastic the economy is doing.

Clothing

Children’s footwear is up 4.7%, the fastest increase in almost four years. Families expect to spend about $424 per child on clothing and shoes this school year. Carter’s, Vans and Gap have all raised prices amid higher tariff costs.

So Iowa parents get hit from every direction:

Supplies cost more.
Lunch costs more.
Shoes cost more.
Gas costs more.

And our brilliant state-level contribution to affordability was apparently deciding that some families should get an $8,148 taxpayer-funded private-school account while everyone gets to enjoy the same Trump tariff inflation.

That’s not an education policy fixing affordability.

That’s redistributing who gets help paying the bill while making the bill itself more expensive.

Consequences | Fuel | The national average has never been above $4/gal after Aug. 12 in any previous year. Ever.

It’s August 12, and the national average for regular gas is still $4.036/gallon.
https://gasprices.aaa.com/?state=IA

That’s historically remarkable this late in the summer.

The only previous periods when the national average reached $4 were 2008 and 2022. In 2008, EIA data shows regular gas had already fallen to $3.88 by August 4. In 2022, GasBuddy says the national average fell below $4 on August 9.

Iowa gets hit especially hard by what’s happening with diesel.

AAA has Iowa regular at $3.79, but diesel is now $5.05/gallon, compared with $3.55 a year ago, roughly $1.50 more per gallon. That cost doesn't stay at the pump. It gets carried through farms, trucking, equipment and the supply chain.

And the reason matters.

The U.S.-Israel war with Iran has been a major direct driver of this year's fuel-price spike. Reuters reported gasoline and diesel prices jumped more than 10% in a single week as the war constrained oil and fuel exports, with the Midwest and South experiencing some of the steepest increases. The conflict is now in its sixth month.

Trump also imposed tariffs on Canadian energy.

That matters particularly to Iowa and the Midwest because roughly 70% of the approximately 4 million barrels of Canadian crude imported into the U.S. is processed by Midwestern refineries. Reuters reported that the tariffs increase refinery costs and that much of those costs are likely to be passed on to consumers.

On the war itself, I’d be precise: Trump began U.S. hostilities without prior congressional authorization. Whether that makes the entire war legally “illegal” is disputed, so “without congressional authorization” is the stronger factual wording.

So no, this isn't some unexplained fluctuation at the pump.

Trump chose the Iran war. Trump chose the tariffs. Both have consequences, and Iowa is paying for them in fuel, freight and farm costs.

There are about 83 days until the November election.

None of those costs magically disappear in 83 days.

They’ll still be part of the record when Iowans go to the polls. Think about the Iowa "reps" who support Trump, who enable this shit, consistently. Think about the new actors who will absolutely fall in lockstep with this trash policy and agenda.

Also whatever happened to:

- Cheaper groceries
- $2 gas
- Slashing energy prices
- Lower interest rates
- A 10% cap on credit-card interest rates
- Medications becoming “1,000–1,500% cheaper”
- Tariff rebate checks
- DOGE dividend checks
- All those jobs
- That great healthcare plan
- Ending wars within 24 hours
- Reopening the Strait of Hormuz—which was already open
- The Epstein files

It's time to make a change, if not for the country, then do it for your own pockets.

Consequences | The 100-day countdown starts today. In 169 days, Iowa gets a new governor, and Kim gets evicted.

Today begins the final 100-calendar-day countdown to the November 3 election.

And 169 days from today, on January 12, 2027, Iowa will swear in a new governor. Kim's crusty drunken, hateful ass will get put out on the street until a PAC absorbs her.

Iowa now has a genuine opportunity to change direction.

This is not blind optimism. The Cook Political Report currently rates the governor’s race a toss-up, and national reporting describes it as one of the country’s most competitive gubernatorial elections.

After years of one-party control, vouchers, declining government transparency, attacks on public education, worsening water quality and policies that seem increasingly disconnected from ordinary Iowans, we finally have an opening.

But an opening is not a victory. Hope requires work.

Check your registration. Talk to people who normally sit out midterms. Help someone request a ballot. Volunteer. Donate. Put up a sign. Correct misinformation when you see it.

Official Iowa voting resources:

We also need serious answers from Zach Lahn

This is not about spreading rumors or declaring that public records prove criminal conduct. They do not. It is about examining whether the record matches the carefully manufactured “Iowa First” farmer and political-outsider image being sold to voters.

1. Where does he actually live?

Lahn acknowledges maintaining a residence in Wichita and regularly traveling between Kansas and his Belle Plaine property. Reporting has also documented his Kansas voting history and the timing of his return to Iowa.

The Wall Street Journal reported that he voted in Kansas in 2018, 2020 and 2022, then voted in Iowa in 2024, barely reaching Iowa’s two-year residency requirement for governor.

KTIV reported that Lahn travels between his Belle Plaine farm and a Wichita residence and uses a private plane to make those trips.

Sources:

2. The LLC network deserves examination

Public filings connect Lahn to a web of entities that has included:

  • Selah Group LLC
  • Selah Properties LLC
  • Homeplace Properties LLC
  • Homeplace Restoration LLC
  • Homeplace Mitigation LLC
  • Homeplace Ventures
  • TenFourteen Ventures LLC
  • 503FARMS Inc.
  • Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC
  • Friends of the King
  • Wonder / Wonder Institute

Forming multiple LLCs is not automatically improper. But when someone asks to control a state government, voters have every right to understand what each entity owns, where each is registered, how money moves between them and whether any present conflicts of interest.

A previous public-record review and source map is here:

3. Homeplace Mitigation and the Buckeye Creek credit project

A federal Army Corps of Engineers notice identifies Zach Lahn and Homeplace Mitigation LLC as the sponsor of a proposed mitigation bank on approximately 20.51 acres in Benton County.

The proposal would restore approximately 3,550 feet of Buckeye Creek and generate an estimated 40,839 stream-mitigation credits, which could then be sold to other entities to offset permitted environmental damage elsewhere.

The questions are about financial transparency, ownership, potential value and how this business interest would be handled by a governor whose administration could influence Iowa land, water and development policy.

4. Selah Group, federal filings and agricultural payments

A federal securities filing identifies Selah Group LLC as 100% owned by Zachary Lahn. The filing also identifies Lahn as a director of FirmTech and reports that Selah Group controlled 28.2% of the company’s voting power at that time.

The Environmental Working Group’s USDA-derived database also lists Selah Group LLC as receiving $6,610 in conservation and Conservation Reserve Program payments.

Agricultural conservation payments are not inherently suspicious. But public assistance, private investments and interconnected companies should all be disclosed plainly when a multimillionaire candidate is campaigning as an outsider fighting entrenched systems.

5. The FirmTech investment (SEX TOYS!!!!)

The same SEC filing identifies Lahn as a FirmTech director and Selah Group as a major shareholder. FirmTech markets devices associated with erectile health and sexual performance.

The issue is not consenting adults or sexual-health products. The relevant issue is whether Lahn accurately described his role after opponents and reporters began scrutinizing the investment.

6. Lahn’s running mate arrived with major financial and legal baggage

Zach Lahn selected State Representative Derek Wulf as his candidate for lieutenant governor, placing Wulf one step away from the governorship. That makes Wulf’s extensive civil-court record and the unexplained financing that followed matters of legitimate public concern.

Court records show that:

  • A Sioux County court entered a $182,244.70 default judgment against Wulf in April after he failed to respond to a lawsuit involving payment for more than 2,000 feeder pigs. The judgment was eventually paid and formally satisfied in July. Read the court’s default-judgment order.
  • Heartland Co-op sued Wulf and Shallow Creek Land & Livestock for $149,214.55, alleging that attempted electronic payments bounced and came from a bank account that had already been closed. A judge entered default after no answer was filed. That judgment was reported satisfied in full on July 23. Read the default order and the satisfaction of judgment.
  • WCF Financial Bank filed a foreclosure petition against Wulf, his wife and their farming company. Court filings reported that the farm account had been overdrawn by hundreds of thousands of dollars and that the bank charged off a $584,356.71 negative balance. The bank also sought appointment of a receiver to take control of property connected to the operation. Read the foreclosure petition.

Then came the remarkable turnaround.

After Lahn selected Wulf, court filings indicated that bridge financing became available and hundreds of thousands of dollars in judgments were paid. But neither the campaign nor Wulf’s attorney publicly identified who supplied or guaranteed that financing, what collateral secured it or whether anyone connected to Lahn or his political donors participated. Laura Belin’s detailed examination of the court filings is here.

Wulf says this was a farm refinancing brought on by rising costs and difficult agricultural conditions, and he says the farm is moving forward. That may explain the financial distress, but it does not answer who provided the sudden financial lifeline or what obligations came with it.

To be precise: these are civil financial proceedings, not criminal convictions. Although one bank filing referred to a possible investigation involving collateral, reporting has not confirmed that a criminal investigation was opened, and Wulf and the Lahn campaign denied the underlying allegation.

The questions for voters are straightforward:

  • How thoroughly did Lahn vet the person he placed one heartbeat away from the governor’s office?
  • Who financed or guaranteed Wulf’s rapid rescue?
  • Were any campaign donors, political allies or restricted donors involved?
  • What financial interests or private obligations could follow Wulf into office?
  • How do the LLC's tie in?

The larger issue, loose ends:

There are legitimate questions about:

  • Residency
  • Financial disclosure
  • Business conflicts
  • The source and structure of his wealth
  • The difference between his campaign image and documented history
  • Whether “Iowa First” is a governing principle or merely branding
  • The payoffs to the running mate.
  • Moral and ethical dilemmas.

Those questions deserve direct answers before November.

The hopeful part is that Iowa is not trapped.

Elections have consequences. So does paying attention. So does documenting public records. So does showing up when political consultants assume people have stopped caring.

One hundred calendar days begin today.

Don't vote for party, vote for legitimacy, vote for decency, vote for clarity.

You deserve that.
Your children deserve that.
Iowa deserves that.

Consequences | Going to the Iowa State Fair as gas tops $4 nationally again...

The Iowa GOP spent years telling voters that Republican leadership would lower gas, groceries, energy costs and interest rates.

Instead, Iowans are heading into State Fair season with gas near $4 a gallon, while inflation has pushed up the expected cost of food and hotels.

Source: AAA Gas Prices

BONUS: the US has 43 days of Crude Oil reserves....shit is going to get way worse.

For many families, the trip will cost more before they even walk through the gate.

And gas was only one promise.

How many promises are Iowa voters expected to forget?

Consequences | Grinding out Family values.........

A married Iowa Republican campaigning for state lieutenant governor on a “traditional family values” platform has denied setting up a 2016 account linked to his email address on Adult Friend Finder

Wulf is a third-generation cattle farmer and lives on a farm in Hudson, Iowa, with his wife, Dresden, and two children. They married in 2006.

An email address tied to him was exposed during a security breach on the website in 2016, according to LeakCheck.io, a respected cybersecurity platform that lets users check if their details are exposed in cyberattacks.

But Luke Thompson, a strategist with the Lahn campaign, told Raw Story that Wulf denies setting up the account with the email that is associated with his phone service

https://www.rawstory.com/amp/iowa-republican-adult-friend-finder-2677125926

If the account was created and persisted, the owner of the email account must have acknowledged the account creation. That's a pretty standard auth check.

I love this for the GOP.

Fuck around and find out....literally.

Consequences | The Iowa residency shell game. What do all of these LLCs have in common?

How you ever wondered how wealthy people avoid taxes, hide money, or hide the truth?

What do all of these have in common?

Selah Group LLC, Selah Properties LLC, Homeplace Mitigation, LLC, Homeplace Properties LLC, Homeplace Restoration LLC, TenFourteen Ventures LLC, 503FARMS, INC., Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC, Wonder Inc / Wonder Institute, Friends of the King

***Spoiler***

Homeplace Mitigation, LLC appears to be the name used for the USACE mitigation-bank proposal. Separately, Homeplace Restoration LLC was later formed in Iowa at the Belle Plaine farm address with Zachary Lahn as agent. The broader entity cluster includes Selah Group LLC, 503FARMS, Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC, Homeplace Properties LLC, and Selah Properties LLC.

  • Homeplace Mitigation, LLC appears in an official USACE filing for Buckeye Creek.
  • The USACE filing uses a Wichita, Kansas mailing address.
  • The project site "farm address" is described as a 20.51-acre Buckeye Creek mitigation bank.
  • USACE states Homeplace Mitigation, LLC is owned and operated by Zachary Lahn.
  • Homeplace Restoration LLC exists as an Iowa domestic LLC, active, same farm address, Zachary Lahn agent.
  • Selah Group LLC exists as an Iowa foreign LLC, active, same farm address, Zachary Lahn agent.
  • 503FARMS, INC. exists as an Iowa domestic corporation, active, same farm address, Zachary Lahn officer.
  • Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC appears in FAA records at the same Belle Plaine farm address.
  • Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC also has Kansas public-record traces.

Selah Group LLC

https://farm.ewg.org/persondetail.php?custnumber=E24053121&summlevel=detail

interesting these subsidies stop right in 2024.....

Homeplace Ventures is the named umbrella business in campaign/public profiles, and Homeplace Ventures Inc also appears in Iowa contractor-license data for "the farm" with Zachary Lahn as owner.

A Sedgwick County delinquent personal-property tax list also shows Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC at a Wichita address.

Kansas Register’s forfeiture notice lists Buckeye Creek Ventures, LLC, Wichita, KS
https://www.sos.ks.gov/publications/Register/Volume-40/PDF/Vol_40_No_34_August_26_2021_July_2021_Forfeitures.pdf forfeited during the month of July 2021 for failure to timely file an annual report and pay the annual report fee.

City-Data’s aircraft registry snapshot lists Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC as registrant of a Cirrus SR22T, N412BS, at a Wichita address. Current FAA records previously tied the later aircraft N512MM to Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC at the Belle Plaine farm address, so the same aircraft-holding entity appears to have moved from a Kansas address trail to the Iowa farm address.

The plane

Aircraft registration / N-number    N512MM
Registered owner    Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC
Aircraft    2006 New Piper Aircraft Inc PA-46-500TP
Type    Fixed-wing single-engine turboprop
Serial number   4697271
Certificate issue date  June 18, 2024

*N512MM is not available for public tracking at the owner/operator’s request

It uses the same address (redacted for now) as other Lahn-linked Iowa entities.

Wichita / Kansas cluster
├─ Homeplace Mitigation, LLC mailing address in USACE Buckeye Creek filing
├─ Wonder / Wonder Inc. / Wonder Institute at Wichita address
├─ Zach + Annie Lahn leadership/founder role in Wonder
├─ Buckeye Creek Ventures LLC Kansas forfeiture/tax traces
├─ Older aircraft registration traces at Wichita address

Sec. 6. Eligibility. No person shall be eligible to the office of governor, or lieutenant governor, who shall not have been a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the state, two years next preceding the election, and attained the age of thirty years at the time of said election.

the Kansas Reflector found that Lahn and his wife purchased their Kansas home in July 2024 and “declared on mortgage documents it was her primary residence.” Lahn sold their Kansas home to an LLC he has ties to just four months before he launched his campaign for governor

This is shady shit friends.

Further:

Throughout Lahn's campaign for lowa governor, which launched last November, Lahn and his family have kept their home in Kansas, where their children attend school. Lahn, who has used his private plane to fly back and forth between Kansas and lowa while campaigning, has said if elected governor he and his family would move to and live in lowa full-time.

**Edit: useful comments to surface:
*Where does he pay his taxes?

*What state is his drivers license assigned to?

He's not an Iowan. His wife and kids are in another state. His primary mortgage in Kansas is "hidden" in a LLC.

Consequences | Let's talk about E15......

For most 2001+ gasoline cars, SUVs, and light-duty trucks: E15 is EPA-approved and generally not expected to damage the engine when the vehicle is designed/approved to tolerate it. EPA defines E15 as 15% ethanol / 85% gasoline and says it can be used in model year 2001+ cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty passenger vehicles.

For motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, lawn equipment, chainsaws, heavy-duty gasoline vehicles, and pre-2001 cars: do not use E15.
EPA and DOE both list those as prohibited/not approved categories.

https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-e15

Reuters described the 2026 House passage of year-round E15 legislation as a win for biofuel producers and farm groups, while noting opposition from refiners and warnings from soybean groups that the policy could reduce income for soybean growers.

HOW GREAT DO YOU FEEL AGAIN????

I'm watching farmers plant and prep as I drive by fields and I'm left wondering if they are crying in their cabs. Their inputs are at all time highs, their crops are near zero to monetize, and there's a pack of wolves hoping and scheming so they go bankrupt.

So the reps are making all of this noise about E15, trying to offset the gas price conditions from an illegal war and the tariff impacts they explicitly created.

This is all noise to try to sway votes with garbage fuel types, minimal farmer relief, and a lot of self-fellating social posts from the GOP reps. (Ashley, Chuck, Feenstra, Joni, Kim...whatever else is in that dumpster)
