OCC Meal Plan Worth It?

Are the OCC Meal Plans worth it? I don't really plan on using GrubHub, guest meal exchanges, or the flex dining dollars, I just want to eat in the cafeteria on campus like once or twice a day Monday through Thursday. Is it better if I just get the Pirate Bucks so they don't expire from semester to semester?

Edit: After doing some math, it looks like the Gold meal plan seems cheaper if my average meal costs around 13$ and I eat once a day throughout a semester, though I would still like to hear opinions from actual people

Weird Situations in California Driving Test

Hello all,

I'm about to take my driving test in California in 3 days, and consequently I've been driving around the DMV area constantly for the past 2 weeks. I'm pretty confident, but there is a weird situation regarding some of the terrain and signage in the residential neighborhoods and one intersection near the DMV.

There are multiple unmarked dips that I have come across, and I learned the hard way to slow down for them. Only one dip has a sign for it, so it is obvious to slow down, though for the other ones it's hard to tell unless you've driven through it. The concern I have is that I slow down significantly for these dips (from regular 25 mph to around 10-13 mph), and I am afraid that the examiner is going to mark me down for speed, or even worse, fail me, even though I am being cautious around the dip. Furthermore, there is a dip in an intersection where you go 40 mph with absolutely no sign for it, so if you don't slow down for it you are basically guaranteed to hit the bottom of your car. Would an examiner (besides a really shitty one ofc) actually mark me for this since there is technically nothing telling you to slow down?

Furthermore, another concern I have is the speed limit in school zones during the summer. I'm going to be taking my test in the morning (10:25 am), and one of the routes is near an elementary and high school. I think it is safe to presume there might be some sort of summer school happening or even the semester starting since it is already August, however the school zone sign is extremely vague, and I also don't want to get docked for speed (the regular speed limit in the area is 35). The school zone sign only indicates that you should go 25 mph when children are present, with no specific times or flashing lights to indicate anything. Would I be failed for being safe and going 25??

Edit: NVM THERE IS A FLASHING LIGHT FOR THE SCHOOL ZONE

Thank you

Different Wi-Fi's in AP mode for mesh network??

Hello all,

(Before you guys say anything, I'm not that well-versed in networking) I got 3 Deco X55's a while ago for a mesh network in order to connect to my PC upstairs (my room is a deadzone), and I used to have a main router from my ISP (Spectrum) that I connected the Decos to and configured them in AP mode. This worked pretty well, but for some reason the ISP told my family that the Decos were actually "clashing" with the ISP router?? So they took the ISP router away, and now I just have a singular Deco as the main router with the other two in the same spots as before.

I think this was because there was 2 different Wi-Fi networks, one by the ISP router and one by my Decos, and I was connected to the Decos. I thought in AP mode it would basically disable a lot of its features (like having no traffic or handling IPs) and act as a glorified ethernet cable for the main router. I was also confused on why there was 2 different Wi-Fi networks and how it worked, because the Wi-Fi network created by the Deco was actually SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Wi-Fi network from the ISP router despite it supposedly functioning to "extend" the main Wi-Fi network from the ISP, so I was using that.

Does anyone know what to do with this and how to not have the Decos "clash" with the ISP router? Although I think I know the answer already (don't have two Wi-Fi networks LOL), I'm moving in with different family soon, and I'm going to bring some of my routers with me, however I don't want this situation to happen again, so I really need to know the EXACT solutions and information from people who are more experienced then me.

Thank you

Hey all,

I’m an in state California resident going to CC to eventually transfer to uci as a bio major (Im going to orange coast college)

I recently heard that UCI is removing bio from their TAG program, which really bummed me out because that was basically the sole reason I was transferring. This also made me extremely nervous because I didn’t want to get rejected TWICE by UCI, both as a high schooler and transfer student, because that would just be extremely embarrassing from me.

So I was looking for ways to increase my chances for UCI and other colleges if I didn’t get in, and I remembered that TAP for UCLA and H2H (also the other honors thing I forgot what it was called) for UCI existed, so I’m currently trying to join my CC’s honors program to do that. However, this comes with a 15 unit minimum for honors courses, where I need to add on to my course load.

I have my entire two year college plan laid out, and from my perspective it seems challenging but not too bad for me to handle. For some context, I’m about to finish the IB DP program, and this program was extremely rigorous and very hard on me, but I made it through with decent grades.

Throughout the semesters, no semester has anything over or at 18 credits, which I have read is pretty terrible. The max is 17, though it mostly consists of STEM classes (intro to bio, general Chem, OChem, physics, etc). I’ve only taken basic high school chemistry and biology classes, no AP or IB Bio or Chem classes. I know it will be extremely difficult, but I’m willing to work my butt off to get good grades in these classes.

Although, and this is the part im concerned about, with such hard classes already, will adding on honors classes jeopardize my GPA? The honors classes im taking are supposed to be easy GE classes that aren’t really related to my major in order to make sure I put all my focus onto my major reqs. I’ve also looked at other Reddit posts about the honors program at my college, and they say it isn’t much more difficult. I’m just concerned that it may bring down my GPA to the point where it’s very possible I get rejected by UCI again.

The GPA im striving for is a 3.7 and above, maybe even a 3.6 and above if it gets bad. I’ll attach some pics of my schedule to see if you guys can think I’ll handle it.

TL;DR: trying to transfer to uci as bio major, wondering if honors courses will jeopardize gpa and get me rejected
