Moving!!!

Packing up for college. She’s coming with me, of course. I can’t take the candles or incense, which I’m devastated about, but I bought some electric candles for her.
I’ve got tonight and tomorrow before I move, so I have one statue sitting on my bedside table until then.
Can’t wait to make her new altar in my dorm.

Customized statue of Mama

I received a variety of statues from an extremely kind individual, and this big pink one was perfect for a project I’d been planning.
I was going to make the statue myself, but I’m a broke college student and my tool of choice is broken so this was so much easier and turned out way better than I expected it to. All the flowers are from special places, bouquets, or from my own plants. The feathers are from a mourning dove that unfortunately hit a window where I work. Poor thing, he’s in good hands now though.

The four leaf clover cracks me up because it kinda looks like she’s got a silly hat on.

82 Ridges

All artwork made by myself on procreate. No ai was used.

82 Ridges takes place in Chicago, about 40 years in the future. It’s a slice of life project, jumping between characters, the city itself, and whatever else I think deserves to be shown.

“I grew up in uh.. the area between Bridgeport and China Town, closer to the Bridgeport side. I lived with my dad who I always called John because it made my brother mad and I thought it was funny.
That one on the right? The brick building with the weird overhangy thing? That was our townhouse. You might think that’s a balcony or a patio, but no. No idea what it was. Bridgeport never developed like the other districts. Not because they wanted to preserve the history, god no, but because the location was perfect to for railroads and transit lines to sweep overhead, and knitting them between twenty five hundred foot tall buildings was too much work.
Okay I know, it’s a little pathetic to still be living with your dad at 19, but I liked my neighborhood! There weren’t really sidewalks, but honestly it was fine because nobody really drove down here anyway so we all just walked on the road. I had it pretty good, I was working on my degree- architecture, if i haven’t told you yet. Heh. Was pretty good at it. Uh, oh yeah, my dad had me doing construction with him, he even got me a job at the company.
Times were good. I had a great view of the skyline, a job, and even a guy at the gyro place down the road who would preemptively prepare my order every Tuesday and Friday which was a little embarrassing but in my defense they were REALLY good gyros.
That tree on the left? It’s been there since before I was born. Duh. Trees live a while- okay no but I have a reason for bringing it up. There was this old lady who lived on the floor below us, and every day she’d water and fertilize this tree. When builders came to try to knock it down, she dressed as a RACS member and pulled a shotgun on them. I know. Even when I was like.. 6, every time I got too close to this fucking tree, she’d open the window and make various old person sounds at me. Like I get it, you like this tree. When John died, she left me some of the branches at my doorstep. I inherited the townhouse, which.. I was 20, so that was cool I guess. Anyway I put the branches in my drawer. The tree bloomed every year, these beautiful pink and white flowers. I wonder if it’s still there.”

Using her money to buy her things

Hey friends!!!
Over the course of the year, I’ve been putting dollars and coins on her altar, then into a jar with little keepsakes.
Money is tight right now. Not super tight, but I’m in college and my savings are most of my funds right now and I’m trying not to spend much.
I ran out of incense. I’ve heard it’s okay to use the money on her altar to buy things for her, but something about that feels a bit weird to me.. like imagine your kid takes your wallet and buys you a candle. Like thanks?
Idk I’m overthinking it what do yall think

sculptures looking for new home

Hi friends!! Not sure what tag to use and I understand this might get removed, but I’m currently packing up for college and trying to downsize. I made these guys back in 8th grade, I don’t have the heart to just throw them away. Does anyone want them? You’d only pay for whatever shipping is.

Tattoo placement

Hi!!!
I plan on getting a tattoo of mama sometime in the next few years. The thing I’m struggling with is where to get it, since I want it to be.. visible, but not in your face if that makes sense? It’s for me and her, but I’d still like it to fit in with what tattoos I’ve already got.
So my idea is to have it on my upper chest.. pretty much upper tid area since it’s rarely exposed fully.

My question is, though, is that disrespectful? Would she be chill with that? I think she’d be okay with it, shes a woman I’m a woman and we’re all beautiful and she’s no prude, but like- you wouldn’t get her tattooed on your buttcheek or inner thigh or.. her face as a tramp stamp, that’s not cool.
Not really sure where I’m going with this, I’m absolutely overthinking it, so I’m just looking for other perspectives to help sort out my thoughts.
Other option would be my deltoid, but that’d be more visible.

Help why am I so frizzy and weird

I have pretty frizzy hair just as is. My bangs cooperate about 1/2 the time (second image is when they’re cooperating)
For the past 2 months they’ve been. Bad. I’ve had to use so much product to stop them from becoming this frizzy blanket over my forehead. I don’t like having blunt bangs, I like having.. a curtainy/piecy forehead accessory. I don’t know I need help help me please

What’s wrong with them?

They came out of dormancy fine, were looking good, full sun and lots of water. Suddenly they just stopped growing full leaves. The traps turn black before forming!
