I think I have an experimental lid from 1967-69 with optics. I've never seen another one...

I'm paring down and was taking pictures and noticed something odd. I have two of the 2.5 quart casserole dishes with lids. They are marked the same on the bottom and came from the same home along with all the other casserole dishes and pie plates. All have the same 1967-1969 stamp on the bottom. However--the lids, though on the same casserole, are very different. The one seems to have an optical pattern in the glass. It was very hard to photograph, but this lid has a ripple effect that creates a refracted light pattern on the bottom of the dish. There are also very light indentations-four on each side (or more aptly, one on each corner and two in between on each side. It is also numbered differently. The other lid is marked "A 9 C'. This lid is marked "A-9-C" and on the opposite side a number 12. The other lid has no 12-even though they are the same size and come from the same date/home/set.

I've spent hours trying to find anything else like it but have found nothing. I kind of don't want to part with them now. Anyone have any info?

Hello Portland! In all my years here I have never heard of "Bailey & Co." I recently bought this set merely because I had never heard of them before. I wonder what wealthy Portland family had these on their table 120 years ago.

I have spent hours looking at Haviland china and give up. I can't find this pattern's name. I hope one of you all can help me out! (sorry if this isn't old enough-if it from the company's later days might only be 80+ years old).

Totally confused by this... the honking thick frame of the pendant is testing as sterling + and the chain tested positive as gold (but I find that hard to believe...but... positive test??). No marks on anything....

People ask me why I live in Portland and love it... here is one of the reasons....

We just had new neighbors move in. We went over to say hello and they told us they were getting married today. Family flying in, fast wedding no honeymoon-they can't take time off work. I asked who was doing their flowers and she said, "We're going to go to Trader Joe's or something." The neighbor then mentioned her husband is from Hawai'i.

Don't get me wrong, I love Trader Joe's...they have donated flowers to my school's graduation many times. Just so happens I have a Ti plant. So...another neighbor and I chopped down all of our flowers to make this arrangement. Ti leaves for Hawaii and the amazing bounty of flowers that is Oregon June.

I think it is a mighty fine welcome.

I love that my yard can produce such amazing beauty. That is why I love living here.

My Dracunculus Vulgaris had babies this year. I have SEVEN of them blooming! (and, yes, very stinky. Stinky, stinky, stinky-vulgar even).
