New Earth Science standards
Hi! Does anyone know where I can find the units that are covered on the new Earth Science regents? None of the old resources are helpful anymore. I can't even look at old tests or review materials. I am resorting to buying a 2026-27 Regents review book for students for myself, just to know what I should be teaching. The Regents website is useless. The school administration has no idea and isn't giving any resource material at all. New Visions has some stuff but I don't know if I can rely on it because it's just so skewed to environmental science with almost no geology or astronomy - and whatever is there is mainly focusing on how the sun, weather, volcanoes, etc affect life on Earth. Nothing at all similar to what I am familiar with. Additionally, the '26-'27 reference table seems to have material that isn't mentioned on New Visions.
Turned myself into a lion
I did my best with what I had. I'm especially proud of the beauty-mark philtrum! The outfit is similar to the Lion King Broadway outfits. Still deciding to use the crown or not. If Pikmin ever introduces ear headbands and maybe a tail, I will be sooo happy. My daughter told me friends will start sending my lion postcards, and she was right! I got two already.
I live on the 6th floor of a NYC building for 6 years now. The bathroom is from the 1950s. A couple of weeks ago, water leaked into the apartment downstairs. It happened during a shower and some water got on the floor which I didn't notice right away, but as soon as I did, I mopped it up. I thought that was the end of that, but it continued to leak from then on, but only when one specific family member was showering.
The superintendent came to recaulk the outside of the tub (there were gaps in the caulk) but it kept happening. He returned to test, over and over, and he was not able to reproduce the leak. He directed the shower to every corner of the bath, walls, windowsill, corners. He filled the tub and drained it. He poured cups full of water onto the floor. We even used detergent to create foam, to simulate shower conditions. No leak!
The management brought in a plumber to replace the pipes, both water delivery and drainage. We thought - problem solved! Right after, it still leaked. And it's always when a specific family member showers. We can't even figure out what they do differently from everyone else, and what changed all of a sudden after years of zero issues (even when the floor got flooded in the past).
The night everything started, that family member had gotten a haircut and it could be that loose hair washed down the drain, though there's no clogging or backup. We have a pretty decent hair catcher in the drain. Any ideas? It's a mystery because (a) we lived problem-free for years before this started, (b) the leak cannot be replicated, and (c) it only happens with one person, and that person did not change anything about their showering habits. I'm losing my mind! There are workers here every day, and someone has to be home at any given time because they keep coming and going. It's maddening for the neighbors too, of course. The super said they will open up their ceiling next.
Additional context: we have one of these standing drain plugs, if that means anything. Photo is from the internet but ours is the same. It was replaced with a new one when the pipes were replaced. Tonight I noticed foam come up from the opening after a shower. Not sure if it has any relevance.
I found a sparrow eggshell on my balcony and decided to make a special interest crossover. 😃 I'm not willing to risk breaking it to get the ears through the shell. Yes, I've thought about it!
