Hints of potential upgrade in Peter Parker's abilities (Amazing Spider-Man #993 spoilers)

Combined with Xanto Starblood's warning about Peter Parker taking the serum, is the story pointing toward the direction of Peter being pushed by a villain to the point of expanding his powers then becoming unbalanced?

This scene deserves to be introduced with a Norman Osborn quote from a year ago LOL (Amazing Spider-Man 993 spoilers)

With John Romita Jr announced to be stepping away from Amazing Spider-Man, here is a look back to his first full interior work for the mainline ASM series.

He has been doing work for the Amazing Spider-Man series since 1980. Over four decades! It was actually just last year when I learned he is older than Frank Miller. Hope he does a short story in ASM 1000.

Is Saladin Ahmed this generation's Howard Mackie?

Howard Mackie rose into prominence as a writer in Marvel in the 1990s when he broke into the scene with Ghost Rider, co-creating Danny Ketch. Riding that initial success, Mackie got assigned regularly to high profile projects, with X-Factor, a Gambit limited series, and several Spider-Man books, which ranged from middling to bad. He was the author of one of the lowest points in Amazing Spider-Man history. A decade's worth of mid to bad comics just because of a promising initial work.

Saladin Ahmed broke into the comic book scene with the Black Bolt series where he even got an Eisner Award. Riding that initial success, Ahmed got one assignment after another ranging from middling to bad. Ahmed fumbled Daredevil. You have to be one freaking bad writer to fumble Daredevil. And he is still continuing to deliver uninspiring work in Wolverine. Nearly a decade's worth of mid to bad comics just because of a promising initial work.

I can not believe that almost decade on, Marvel is still giving us Ahmed, with a new Bishop series this June while he continue his Wolverine shenanigans. As somebody who grew up in Marvel comic books in the 1990s, Ahmed truly feels like the Howard Mackie of this generation.

Update: I asked my 9-year old daughter to digitally ink and color the photo of the "variant cover" I drew on my blank Spider-Man / Superman #1 cover. Family bonding!

Amazing Spider-Man #997 cover: Just a homage or will there be a relation (storywise or thematically) to Incredible Hulk King-Size Special #1?

The Detroit Pistons have been daring the modern NBA to beat them with the three the whole 2025-26 season

During the regular season, 43.1% of all field goals attempted by NBA teams were three point attempts. The Detroit Pistons played 42 games where 43.1% or more of the field goal attempts by their opponents were threes. The Pistons won 78.6% of those games (33 of 42). In the 40 games where opponents attempted threes at a lower rate, the Pistons win rate was a much lower 67.5% (27 of 40).

In the 2026 NBA postseason as of this writing, 40% of all field goals attempted were three point attempts. All of the Pistons wins so far have their opponents attempting 39.5% or higher of their field goals from the three point area. The Pistons' losses had the Orlando Magic attempting threes at a lower rate.
