40 Applications .. 1 Interview

Hi,
About a year ago, I completed a master’s program in Robotics and AI at a top-tier university in Germany.

Since most of my experience has been in robotics testing and validation, I spent the last nine months trying to land a job in this area, but unfortunately, it has been quite difficult. Opportunities for junior candidates are very limited, and the competition is very tough.

I recently decided to switch to QA Automation, focusing on Playwright, Python, pytest, and API testing with Postman.
So far, I have completed one end-to-end e-commerce test automation framework and one API testing project.

However, out of around 40 applications, I received only one interview invitation. I reached the final round after four stages, but was rejected in the end without individual feedback.

I have two questions:

  1. Could recruiters see me as overqualified for such roles and suspect that I only want the job as a bridge until I find something better? If yes, what can I do about this?

  2. What else can I do in general to improve my chances? I am struggling even to get an internship.

Best regards,

How to push back against AI replacement?

Hi everyone,

This question often crosses my mind as a beginner in QA Automation (Playwright):

What are the must-have skills that would make an employer think twice before laying off a QA Automation Engineer?

I would really appreciate your insights and advice.

Best regards,

Using Playwright codegen

Hi,

I'm new to QA automation with Playwright, Python, and pytest.

I took a crash course on locating elements, then came across Playwright Codegen, which seems to save a lot of time and effort.

My question is: has anyone been asked in a QA automation technical interview to write element locators manually, without using any assisting tools?

Alternative to MAWISTA Student Plus

Hi all,

I'm 33 year-old full-time enrolled master student in Germany. I was insured by MAWISTA over the last 2 years but out of no reason they decided to not extend my contract.

I seek your recommendation for any other health insurance providers that offer similar tariff to MAWISTA Student Plus (was paying 56 EUR per month), at the same time be recolonized by authorities (e.g Ausländerbehörde).

I would be very grateful for any recommendations.

Moving from Robotics to QA Automation (Playwright)

Hi,

I hold a Master's degree in Robotics and AI from a top-tier university in Germany. My previous experience has been primarily in Robotics Testing & Validation.

However, I struggled to even secure an internship in that field. As a result, I started exploring other areas with a larger job market and more opportunities for juniors

Is QA Automation (Playwright, Python, Pytest) a good choice in terms of the number of job opportunities available for graduates and junior-level professionals?

Playwright with Python

Hi,

Do you think learning Playwright with Python could hurt my chances of landing an entry-level QA Automation position?

I’ve come across many job descriptions that list Playwright as a requirement but don’t specify a programming language. Does that usually imply JavaScript/TypeScript, or is Python generally accepted as well?
