Shave for my daughter's wedding rehearsal

Shave for my daughter's wedding rehearsal

Pre de Provence No. 63. If there's one thing I like a lot that comes from France, it's this. This is a hard puck, but it lathers like a champ. Great residual slickness. The matching balm is good stuff. High quality. Yeah this is one of my favorites. Rockwell 6C with Gillette Minora blade. Great shave today

Shave with the type I Schick injector

Also this most excellent soap from Wet Shaving Products, modern Schick injector blade, and good old drugstore Mennen Skin Bracer. For some reason the Schick Injectors work very well on my 24 hour stubble, when my skin is most sensitive. Got a nice shave with this gear. This is why I'm a big fan of vintage Schick Injectors. They give me great shaves, even with only a day's beard growth. And this type I is just as great a shaver as the other Schick Injectors I have. Any one of them will give a great shave.

Revisiting the very first double edge razor I got, the one that started it

Merkur 34C with the dreaded evil Feather Hi-Stainless blade, soap and splash from Hendrix Classics & Co., Leaf Razor for the head shave.

I actually got a really good shave with the 34C today, even with the mild character of this razor. This was my very first DE razor, and my technique has improved some after 10 years. With good technique you can shave with most razors, mild or aggressive. HC&C has some of my favorite artisan soap and splashes. Leaves a great scent, but not overpowering.

Budget travel shave

I'm in my work week, delivery driver, layover at hotels. I got this Weishi TTO long handle razor some years ago for free, it makes the perfect travel razor. And it shaves pretty well. The Arko stick is also great for the road. And with this humble shave gear, I got a great smooth shave. You don't always have to have the most expensive gear to get a great shave, I like to go budget when travelling. Clean shaven, good appearance, ready to face my customers.

Somebody was asking for info on the Black Tip Super Speed?

I created a new thread because the original subreddit wouldn't let me post a photo. Anyway concerning the inquiry, this black tip Super Speed is mine. This was one of my first razor acquisitions. The date code is X1, which puts its manufacture in the year 1952. The date code is kind of hard to spot, but it's in the upper corners of the bottom of the head. The letter is in the left corner, the number is in the right. These were made in the codes W and X, 1951 and 1952. From what I understand this was Gillette's first foray into using less expensive materials in razor manufacturing. The Korean War was happening in this model year, and the military needed brass for armaments. Just like the one below, this has an aluminum handle and plastic twist knob. From what I understand this model of Super Speed is highly sought after by collectors, and even with the less expensive materials, it's a damn good razor. Shaves beautifully just like any Gillette TTO from the 50s. I almost gave this razor away a few years ago. I'm glad I didn't. And to the fella who found his below, nice find. They didn't make too many of these.

Gave the Schick Injector G a spin

I don't know really if it's much different than the E, at least not to me, but nevertheless it is a fantastic Injector razor. Paired with the Van Yulay soap and the Stetson aftershave it was a very good shave. Those 60 year old Plus Platinum Injector blades haven't lost their smooth sharpness just because of their age. Not one tug on any whisker, cut right through my 4 day stubble like hot butter. BBS in 3. That Van Yulay soap is about 6 years old, it's softening, but the scent is still great and it still lathers up like a champ. You just have to use lots of water or it lathers up like paste.

Strange happenings on 15770

First it was WRMI, then it was something else entirely. One song, then the next, then a totally different language. Reception was great though for the west coast at 5:00pm.

Razor acquisition disorder-Injector strain

Type I Schick Injector. Besides a couple of minor blemishes, it's in great shape. Expecting a G on Monday. For some reason, Schick Injectors work really well for me. I'm certain this fine specimen won't disappoint.

Found some more missing stuff

Yes, I found my LaToja shave stick, my Omega 9005 boar brush (lost for years lol) and my Proraso balm. Also my Type E Schick Injector with those old vintage blades I got recently. Soaked the bristles on that old boar brush, it still made a pretty decent lather. The LaToja is a good shave soap. Kinda rough on the first pass probably because I didn't prep well, but still a good smooth nick and cut free shave. I'll try this shave again, next time with proper prep.

More goodies off the Bay

More vintage Schick Injector blades from the company's Warner-Lambert era. It's no secret that I love Schick Injector razors. EBay is a pretty amazing place, and there's still a lot of Schick Injector razors and blades in the world. Makes it really cool for fans of this shaving format.

Found my missing Tabac

This was a nice shave. As well as the Tabac (I forgot how good this soap actually is) there's also my Goodfellas' Smile Bayonetta razor. Solid brass, made in Italy, very nice razor. Put in a Feather Hi-Stainless blade, these two go together surprisingly well. Efficient, not a single nick or cut. Top it off with the budget Old Spice A/S (I wish I had the old Shulton formulation.) Good early AM shave, now off to work.

Got another vintage Gillette TTO

Yup, vintage Gillette Milord. It's not perfect-some of the gold plating has worn off the doors. But it's a very nice, mechanically sound razor that should give a good shave. I've seen a few of these in the subreddit forums, so I decided to get one myself. 😎👍

Schick Krona today, amongst some of my other favorites

Not a fancy shave, but a good one. Haven't used the Cella in a while, the Schick Krona shaved awesome of course, the Leaf always gives a marvelous smooth head shave, and the 7 o'clock Super Platinum blades are in my personal top 3 as far as double edge blades. Always perfectly sharp, always give a great shave. 😎👍

The Schick Injector is far from extinction

Pretty amazing what you can find on eBay. I don't know the exact decade these are from, probably 1950's. More cool stuff on the way. 😎👍

Slant razor day today featuring my Merkur 37C

Slant DE razors give a pretty incredible shave. Smooth. And of course the Moon Shave Soap makes it a double incredible shave. The blades are Czech blades, decent, shave pretty good. Smooth shave in 3, no cuts, no razor burn. Ready to face the day.

Been on a vintage razor binge lately

Today it's the old H1 Gillette Slim with one of my favorite not-so-popular double edge blades, and the only Zingari Man soap and splash I have. Slim was adjusted to 7. Very smooth for my coarse wiry salt and pepper beard. A little shave prep and the cuts almost never happen.

New acquisition; J3 Schick Injector Golden 500

And yes it has the "Hydro-Magic" lever that makes it easy to rinse out soap and stubble. Case is rough, but razor is in good shape. Unfortunately didn't come with the original blades, but I can live with that. 👍

Schick Injector L. So simple, yet so pleasurable to shave with

NOS Schick Plus Platinum blade, Leaf for the dome, (with Gillette Perma-Sharp half blades) and marvelous soap by Hendrix Classics & Co. For me, shaving nirvana. Got a BBS in 3. Without a doubt, the Schick Injector is my favorite single edge shaving tool. Almost always marvelous smooth shaves.

First shave with a newly acquired 57 red tip super speed

I can totally see why this vintage razor has the highly esteemed status it does in the wetshaving community. It's a marvelous TTO style DE razor. Feels balanced, nice heft, a solid performer. Virtually perfect in all the right ways, although not flashy and shiny like a Timeless or Above The Tie. Performed well with a Gillette Platinum blade of course. Gladly added to my shaving arsenal.
