Has anyone had a derivative I-485 accepted after the principal was approved?
I’m an EB-2 NIW applicant. My I-485 was approved on June 22.
My wife’s derivative I-485 package was mailed on June 17 and USPS shows it was delivered to the Dallas Lockbox on June 19. We included Form G-1450 for the filing fees and G-1145 for e-notifications.
As of today (June 25), we haven’t seen the credit card charged, haven’t received any email/text notification, and don’t have a receipt number yet.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where the derivative package was delivered before the principal’s approval but wasn’t receipted until afterward? Did USCIS still accept the case? Also, how long did it take for your G-1450 to be charged after delivery at the Dallas Lockbox?

I honestly did not expect the process to move this fast.
Even after having to reschedule my biometrics appointment, I was still approved much sooner than anticipated. I was mentally preparing myself to wait until the end of the year, or even sometime next year. Instead, it took only about 5.5 months from filing my I-140 with Premium Processing to receiving my I-485 approval today.
Reading timelines on this subreddit helped me a lot, so I wanted to share mine.

Biometrics: May 15, 2026 (originally scheduled for April 10, but I had to reschedule because I was traveling internationally. I was able to travel because I maintained valid H-1B status while my I-485 was pending.)
I-485 Approved: June 22, 2026
No RFEs.
No interview.

Case approved approximately 5 weeks after biometrics.
Processing Time
~3.5 months from I-485 receipt to approval
