Water flosser vs string floss for swollen gums + permanent retainers.

Hello guys, so recently I went to the dentist and they told me I have two caries between my lateral incisors and central ones on my upper jaw. On both sides.

In my 20 years of life, I have never had teeth issues until recently which is also when I started college😭.
I admit it I slacked off a lot and didnt floss correctly for months which lead to the caries.

Anyway, rn my gums are sooo swollen and I can’t floss properly w super floss because my gums are blocking it. I cannot floss where I have my caries, and between my left canine and molar. Like the plastic doesn’t go thru but the rest are fine.

Also according to my dentist, my retainers for my upper jaw are placed super high so the gap in between my teeth is super small.

It was so bad I decided to buy a water flosser. I used it today and idk how I’m supposed to know it worked.

So pls I would appreciate advice on if I should continue to use the water flosser and tips to floss w super floss ! Tyyy

Is waterflosser good/the only option for caries ?

Hello guys, so recently I (20F) went to the dentist and they told me I have two caries between my lateral incisors and central ones on my upper jaw. Both sides💔💔
I took super good care of my teeth (well I used to)
My routine:
\\- I brush two times per day
\\- use alcohol free mouth wash after every meal.
\\- I flossed every night too.

In my 20 years of life, I have never had teeth issues until recently which is also when I started college😭.
I admit it I slacked off a lot and didnt floss correctly for months which lead to the caries. Also I have permanent retainers so u can imagine how much gunk and bacteria was trapped there.

Anyway, rn my gums are sooo swollen I can’t floss properly w super floss and I almost cried cuz it hurt so bad lol. Some areas the floss wouldn’t even go through because my gums are blocking it.
Also my retainers for my upper jaw are placed super high so the gap in between my teeth is super small. I still went thru the pain and flossed but ik it’s going to demotivate me.

I researched abt waterflossers and I saw mixed reviews. Some say it’s not enough and that’s what worries me, I don’t want to risk my teeth heath after everything I went through w braces lol. Also it’s really the teeth where the retainers are fixed which is causing my problems. The rest are fine.

For any dentists out there, do u think it’s worth it to buy one for my situation? Are there any other solutions ?
If u have any questions or clarifications don’t hesitate to ask !
