Fierce little guy
Definitely one of the more satisfying cactus blooms I've seen!

Definitely one of the more satisfying cactus blooms I've seen!
I think across all genuses, chartruese plants tend to be my favorite. At the start of the year I discovered lemon lime and wiggles n squiggles which I love. But this Sun Mouse here is the most vivid and saturated ive seen in any plant and i love it!!
Got this as a gift last summer for my girlfriend and its at least doubled in size since
I see a lot of people with creeping mammillaria asking how they can support your cactus so it'll stay upright. Honestly the best thing to do is let it lay down. Eventually, ill probably move this to a completely horizontal pot, rock, or a bonsai table next to the pot
I believe these are both C. Humulis but different subspecies. Both pretty haggard looking and they're collecting ash from local wildfires but still blooming intermittently
I've been accidentally cooking my gymnocalycium by giving it the same care I do my astros and mammilaria. I kinda like the look but I'm going to try to find a less intense spot for it
I probably paid too much for this small heat stressed plant but I'm really excited for its future potential.
Daphne lawrence crocker; japanese pieris; rhus gro low sumac.
Ive probably walked passed dianthus countless times without even noticing it. Then all of a sudden I have a few and am obsessed with them. They smell just like they look and the variations makes me want yo start a collection
I'm not sure if this is more bonsai or kusamono but I'm really enjoying it!
I'm in Zone 6 so my cacti come inside during the winter then full sun exposure in the summer and I feel like im barely hitting threshold for what some of my plants want.

In place like airizona and california, why do people commonly keep cacti sheltered? Is the high UV too much for potted plants?

Im trying to improve my setup for the grow season and experimenting with full sun, part sun but in a green house and some of my species are getting torched in the greenhouse even with it vented.

Would love to hear the thoughts of those more experienced that I!
I started gardening last summer and struggled to get into bonsai. This year I discovered girard's and kurume azaleas and im having a lot of fun with them. Each started as 1 gallon nursery shrub and was cut back in April / may. I know youre not supposed to top/root prune at the same time but I decided to push my luck and so far theyre all pushing growth like crazy. Fingers crossed still.
I am going for a broom / clump style for these and using clip and grow approach.
Potted in a mix of kanuma, happy frog, and orchid bark
M. Polythele. I wasn't expecting bright fuschia flowers
I got into aroids back in december as a means to grow gifts for my mom and sister who love pothos and monsteras. Ive been having a lot of fun with it! Heres some thoughts from a newbie
Monstera siltpecanna is a beast and grows like a weed. It can handle propagation tactics many of my others wont. It was my first aroid purchase and have quadrupled fhe original plant density since December. Its a beast!
Variegated pothos grow much slower than I expected. I started an N joy pothos leaf propagation in February and kts only given me two new leaves since.
Using my modified succulent mix has given be the best results. It is about 30% epsoma bonsai soil, 30% orchid bark, and 40% happy frog soil. It drains very fast and is pretty lean so I water frequently.
