The kids (now in their 20s) had never seen the Movies without the added special effects added after the 80's theatrical. What a better way to spend father's day. And in 4:3 no less
Edited for clarification
I have been piecing my system back together. So far, when I hit play, music comes out of speakers. My current focus is CD. Being a child of the 90s I still had 200 or so discs in storage. I can up on a Sony CDP-261. I love the layout but it is SUPER sensitive and doesn't like burned CDs.
Could it just need a cleaning? If cleaned will it still not like burned CDs? I'm looking for suggestions for a player that is not as sensitive.
This is my first chassis repair. I am not a newbie when it comes to board repair, but discharging the tube (even though the k7000 will dissipate over time) was new for me. With that short background info, let's talk about this board!
First off, the thing is filthy. I plan on cleaning it up before I start the repairs.
2nd, the neck board looks fine to me.
3rd, I'm seeing several burnt parts, one FRIED diode, and they are all what I think to be the vehicle circuit. The flyback looks ok? I don't see any cracks or anything. Is there something I'm missing? It's my understanding that the flyback can cause issues down the circuit if faulty.
Do I go ahead and do the caps while I have it out? None are bulging or anything. They do have a lot of glue on their bottom side though.
What would you replace?
During a dinner this past week, one of my 4 slots monitor decided to crap the bed. The monitor went blank, there was that old familiar burning electronics smell, and it was done.
The cab still boots. There is still sound. So my guess is the monitor. It still shows a small, squished sliver of the image on the screen.
I am not new to electronic repair, but I am very new to crt repair. I still don't trust myself to discharge the tube, but how hard can it be? My question, where do I start? Is this just a simple recap of the monitor? Or is it toast.
