It’s been an unbelievable year for chanterelles in Scotland

Foraged Argyll. Me and a pal went out today and the whole forest floor was golden. awful weather so we didn’t clean as we went, which I’m regretting now 🤣

I found only a handful of yellow chants in 2024 and 25, but this year has been incredible. I've seen others on this forum have a wonderful year for chicken of the woods too, but not had much luck with that myself.

Happy foraging everyone!

Cessnock/Ibrox antisocial behaviour

I’ve lived in Cessnock/Ibrox for a few years and honestly love it. Its never been perfect, obviously, but in the last couple of months I’ve noticed a real uptick in antisocial behaviour and wondering if this is super-localised (e.g. someone dodge has moved into my street) or if others have also noticed this? I’m talking open drug dealing in the street (sadly clearly older boys grooming younger ones into street dealing), graffiti, firework throwing, paint being smeared on our cars etc.

I’ve written to my councillor for all the good it’ll do me. I paint over the graffiti on my front wall on the regular (council no longer do it for residential properties even if it’s literal swastikas) and tidy up where I can but its draining. Am I just noticing it more or are other locals getting more bother too? Is it just the heat has driven everycunt mad?

Trusted automotive locksmiths covering Perth and around please?

Hello folks. Can anyone recommend a trusted automotive locksmith covering Alyth/Blair/Coupar Angus please? I need a car unlocked and potentially new keys coded. Arnold Clark quoted me £2k plus I'd need to have it towed to them in Dundee...

Brown birch bolete?

Accidentally kicked this chunky guy over while on a walk through the (birch) woods in Perthshire yesterday! A touch unsure on ID due to the clear orange colour on the stem (but dull brown on the cap) and how squat it is. Very dry to the touch. Pores are grey where bruised.

Advice please: My mum is giving up driving due to a dementia diagnosis - what practical steps do I need to take?

Hi folks, seeking advice because I'm overwhelmed with what to do here. Top line is my mum has decided to stop driving due to a dementia diagnosis and she wants me to sell her car.

My question is, how and in what order do I do the things I need to do to handle this?

I have informed DVLA of her diagnosis already. She's not opted to give up her licence right now as she has no other form of Photo ID but when it is up for renewal next year she will surrender it entirely.

I actually got a SORN for the car as well, as an old Alzheimers' UK factsheet suggested doing that straight away but I now think that was wrong and I should re-tax it as no one who's interested in buying it can test-drive it, and it can't be driven to a garage/dealership to sell it?

I need to speak to her insurers and tell them she's got dementia but I assume that means there'll be a huge leap in cost for the short time it will take me to sell it? She will no longer drive the car as she's too afraid to, so I assume I will also need to be on the insurance to take the car to whatever garage/dealer/individual etc. will buy it from us?

Do I ask the insurers (Saga) for a specific product in this case? Should I drop to third party, fire and theft? Is there a chance they'll just cancel the insurance entirely and I'll need to go elsewhere and if so, do you have any recommendations for who would cover this when i'll only need insurance for like a month?

I would really appreciate advice if anyone has had to do this.

Roadworks Dumbreck Road/M77 J1 - anyone travelled this today?

I might not be looking in the right place but all the info I can find on the planned roadworks at Dumbreck Road is:

Glasgow City Council will be carrying out carriageway repairs, and active travel improvements, on Dumbreck Road at Lochinch Road from 9^(th) June 2026 for approximately 5 weeks. This will also involve the closure of the on and off slip roads for junction 1 for the M77. Local diversions will be in place.

Has anyone travelled this today and can you give me an idea of what the diversion is/how it's looking? Google Maps doesn't seem to have caught up to the roadworks yet.

Advice wanted - shambolic cancellation experience with BA LHR-Delhi

Two weeks ago I was flying to Delhi with BA, on the 18.50 flight from Heathrow. It was delayed for a couple of hours while a technician looked at something on board, then eventually cancelled along with several other flights at around 21.30. We were told it was for 'operational', 'technical' and 'weather' reasons. I was rebooked on the next flight, leaving around 10 the following day. Fine. A bit narked that they seemed to cover all the bases with their reasons for cancellation but whatever, shit happens and what else can they do.

However, when we got upstairs to customer services to see about overnight accommodation (I had come from Glasgow on a through-ticket) the line was 600 people long, and there were 2 people working the desks. After queueing for a few hours (what else was there to do at that time of night), I got to the front to be told "There's nothing we can do. We have no rooms left". I was told my luggage would be transferred on to my new flight and I didn't have to do anything. I didn't believe them on the luggage front and found my bag on the carousel carrying bags from a Milan flight that had recently landed. Thankfully I was heading off on an adventure holiday and had my camping gear so bedded down in T5 to 'sleep' for the night.

I have never flown BA long haul, and have never had to complain to them. But to be left in the airport overnight with nothing - not even a meal voucher - seems... quite bad? What do you even ask for in terms of compensation - my meals reimbursed? Avois points? Lounge access? Money back? Or is it pointless and it's just one of those things you have to suck up? Help a noob out.

This is a roundabout???

Trying to get on the M80 from Dennistoun this morning and fucking hell - I hold my hands up and apologise to anyone who was behind me because I had literally zero idea what was going on here.

There is a sign on Provan Road telling you to get onto the M80 you have to go right at the upcoming roundabout, then you get to this bit of road and there’s … nothing? No road markings at all (hardly any visible in the photo and that’s from nearly 2 years ago now).

I was completely baffled, not helped by the fact someone cut across this blank bit of space straight towards me at about 40mph and I almost shat myself.

I try so hard not to moan but the state of these roads man… 😵‍💫
