So I visited friends in Puerto Rico and they let me and my group of friends stay with them and took us around to sights
Id like to give them something to show I appreciated it
they’re a couple in their 60s
they love island life, the beach, and dogs lol
would a monetary gift be appreciated or maybe something I can make
anyone have ideas maybe something someone gifted you really liked
ok so my 81 yr old grandpa has copd he is on about 4 liters of oxygen 24/7
he has a portable concentrator but it’s pulse oxygen not continuous which he feels doesn’t provide the right amount of oxygen because he’s a mouth breather
and he wants to attend a family members wedding he would need to travel about 6-7 hrs in the car
he wants to use his big concentrator in the car the whole way I know we can get an car plug adapter for it
but I’m worried that it isn’t safe or will drain the car battery plus the machine gives off a lot of heat
we’d be traveling through Texas
anyone ever tried this does it sound like a dumb idea
I’ve told him I don’t think its a good idea but I feel bad canceling his trip
so in December 2025, I randomly came home one day I sat down to eat dinner and all of a sudden I felt like I might faint. The edges of my vision turned a bit white. I had to lay down and I felt bit better for the next couple of days when I stood up I just felt very weird and shaky I even tried to drive somewhere thinking I was better while I was driving. I started to feel like I might pass out. I was even talking and felt like my words were slurring, but then I was able to push past I ended up going to the ER because that really scared me and they ran a lot of test and they saw nothing out of ordinary, except I discovered high blood pressure it was high but not scary high it was about 150/80. Maybe I suspected that was why I was feeling bad. I don’t really go to a doctor regularly so I set an appointment and they started me on lisinopril I continue to feel weird like very hyper aware, but I pretty much returned to my normal routine except that the end of the day I just felt like I needed to be in bed sooner than normal and there were times close to end of day I felt like a surge of anxiety and I’d have to lie down and I’d start crying and I felt I needed to back to er reading things online maybe like an adrenaline dump idk
Then in January a couple of weeks later I was working and I felt a lot of pressure in my shoulders and neck almost like I just cannot keep standing, but I push through it then the next day I wake up and I feel weird again hyper aware and at one point I’m trying to serve myself food and I’m looking down and I guess I will describe it like a intense of brain zap and I had to lay down immediately. I checked my blood pressure and it was about 160/80 the medication so far was working. I was checking my blood pressure and it was in the 130s most of the time but I ended up going back to the ER because after I noticed that I could no longer be standing because I felt so much pressure at the base of my neck that traveled to my forehead. And when I went to the ER, they pretty much said that it was a migraine. They gave me the IV medicine that they usually give for migraines and I will say that I felt like the pressure was sedated, but still there I went to neurologist and explained my symptoms, but at the time, I didn’t really know how to explain how I felt and that symptoms were positional. I felt better when laying down so they pretty much just gave me migraine medication and said to follow up but because of insurance issues and I couldn’t I literally had to stop working thankfully I live with my parents and I didn’t know what else to do but accept it . I didn’t follow up so and some months have passed. And I just kept getting worse. I couldn’t even sit down because at first when I was sitting, I felt like I was swaying but then worsened and I was feeling pressure at the base of my skull that will travel to my forehead along with it and jaw pain when I bite I feel like I feel pressure in my whole face I do feel like off-balance and some nausea that comes and goes. I even sometimes feel alot of tingling only in the back of my body when I get up to try and to do things but it comes and goes
er also advised me to see a cardiologist which I did because my heart rate was high and he checked me out did echo normal and heart holster for 14 days at one point I spiked to 160 he assumed I was working out I wasnt I’m bed ridden which I tried to explain but he didn’t seem concerned and started me on a beta blocker
i tried a Tmj specialist only because my mom had a connection and he said it didn’t sound or look like a Tmj issue
I ended up going back to the ER and that’s where they said it might be occipital neuralgia and again I tried to tell them my symptoms, but I guess it doesn’t come out right and something that I discovered I bought a soft cervical collar because I had read online that it might help with your sleeping to keep neck stable I happen to get up to the restroom while wearing it and I noticed that I felt 60% better the pressure lessened but it doesn’t make me feel completely normal but it helps a lot. I wear it off and on not all the time because i dont want to make more neck problems but I have to lay in bed pretty much all the time I can’t even sit down and I can’t even lay on my back because it just makes the back of my head feel weird and sometimes I feel numbness in the back of my ear. I feel pain down the side of my neck. and sometimes a cold wet feeling that travels to my forehead I admit I sat without trying for awhile to find answers because I have no money or anyone that can help me beyond basic needs but I’m finally able to access some free healthcare through a hospital program but the waiting is long I have a neurology appointment in a couple of weeks, but I don’t know what else to do. I literally can’t do any normal tasks
I havent noticed any cognitive decline or weakness in my limps etc
also I had CT’s of my head and neck with and without contrast and xray of neck which they say are normal
this is probably to complicated but could this really all be from occipital neuralgia?!
