What Did Ian’s Wish Actually Do/Function?

Okay, okay, okay. I'm thinking about Obsession(obviously, lol). Ian’s billion-dollar wish either printed a billion counterfeit dollars, stole a billion from multiple locations discreetly, or printed money that the IRS and the U.S. Treasury would account for. Think about it: money has serial numbers, right, and the only way it could happen is if Ian’s wish printed the money and got accounted for by the IRS before quietly being dispersed. Sorry if this has been discussed to death; I searched it by topic and didn't get any threads.

My Concept for a Spin Off Game(thoughts)

Return to the world of Obsession in a psychological courtroom drama that explores the aftermath of the film through the eyes of Sarah’s father.
By day, attend the trial, examine evidence, hear witness testimony, and decide what—and who—you believe. Every statement, photograph, cross-examination, and objection slowly reshapes your understanding of the events surrounding that night.
By afternoon, you’re pulled into recurring dream shifts at your music store from 3:00 PM until closing at 10:00 PM.

Stock shelves, help customers, delegate work, monitor the security cameras, and keep the store running as memories of ordinary days begin to blur with grief. What starts as familiar routine slowly becomes something far more unsettling

The more the trial progresses, the more the courtroom and the dream shifts begin to influence one another, forcing you to question whether you’re reliving memories… or rewriting them.

When the verdict approaches, you’ll be faced with one final decision that could change everything.

The Apparition
As the trial progresses, Sarah’s father’s recurring dreams begin to change.
An unidentified apparition starts appearing exclusively on the store’s security cameras. Initially, it’s little more than a vague silhouette hidden in deep shadow, accompanied by subtle degradation in the CCTV image—slightly blurred footage, dropped frames, and softened detail that leaves players questioning whether they actually saw something.

As the trial continues, the apparition becomes more distinct. The player’s interpretation of the courtroom testimony subtly influences the dreams, causing the figure to evolve until its identity becomes unmistakable.
The apparition is a manifestation of his grief and perception—a nightmare shaped by the testimony, evidence, and memories he relives throughout the trial.

During the final hour of each dream shift, when the store closes and employees split up to clean, the apparition becomes an active threat. Players must use the security cameras to track its movements and keep employees from becoming isolated, turning the familiar comfort of the music store into an increasingly hostile memory.
