So I‘m about to pick up my new Patrol. Definitely putting a Vivid Coil Ultimate on it and going 65mm stroke for 170mm travel.
Has anyone tried the aftermarket Vivid Coil tune (C34/R55) on the Patrol?
I could get the same shock with the Relay/Patrol tune (C26/R25) with 60mm stroke, but changing the shock stroke is a pain/expensive on the new Vivids.
Nomad V6. Not my first choice of color, but the deal was unbeatable. Let’s say it kinda grew on me.
She doesn‘t really ride it and we already have too many bikes. Kinda sad to see it go.

Had to get another pair of my favorite grips from the UK, because apparently the german distributor thinks Germans don’t have big hands, so don’t need Gridlocks.
36 took forever to dial in at 140mm and 220lbs, had to use a lot of tokens in the end.
Pretty surprised the build weighs in at 13.88kg/30.6lbs with the only parts on the heavy side being the pedals, 36 and EX511.
Still my lightest bike by almost 2kg and 1kg lighter than the TransAM I had before.
So after selling the Meta HT because it was too short and the TransAM because it was too fucking heavy and constantly getting heavier because it collected any kind of dirt and debris in the externally routed cables UNDER THE DOWNTUBE (seriously, who at Transition bikes came up with that?), I‘m on a Orbea Laufey atm.
And let me tell you, what works on a long travel fs bike, doesn’t work on a hardtail.
The chainstays are pretty moderate compared to my Enduro and DH bike, but I just can’t bunnyhop that thing.
The short chainstay hype on hardtails is totally justified.
So my search for the perfect hardtail continues. Geometry wise the TransAM was pretty spot on. So full 29, 150mm fork, 64° ha, 480-485mm reach, 76-76.5° sta, around 645mm stack and 425-430mm chainstays.
Aluminum or steel, ideally internally routed cables.

Took me almost half a year to finish this, but it’s finally done. First shakedown ride around the block was fine, definitely need to replace those grips and give the brakes a proper bleed.
So after the first three park days of the year we‘ve got two mechanicals:
Front brake on my wife’s Quake, first gen DB8, developed a severe case of wandering bite point.
Rear TRP DHR Evo on my TR11 is a goner after 18months, I think. Bite point got really mushy and wandered closer to the bar, upon inspection no leaks, but the lever blade has developed a lot of play.
DB8 was what I had lying around, when I build her bike, TRPs have given me nothing but headaches, so I want to treat us both to some nice brakes.
Mineral oil only as I tend to make a mess when bleeding.
Leaning towards Mavens, as I have a SRAM bleed kit already and she could keep her Centerline rotors.
