Guests hugging or otherwise touching hosts when they greet them - does this all have to be arranged in advance?

I always find it interesting that when a guest comes on, the way they greet the hosts is often different from the way a previous guest will do it. For instance, some guests will hug one or two of the hosts, but not all of them.

Some might kiss most of the hosts on the cheek but then for one of the hosts, they won't do that (and will just give a shoulder pat instead)

Not sure if anyone here knows, but does this get arranged in advance by what the guest wants to do? Or is it more a matter of a particular guest might be closer with certain hosts (such as Whoopi) and not know the others as well.

Top 10 Reasons why "New Eyes" is one of my favorite episodes

In no particular order:

  1. Marcus’ mom and Miss Loretta
  2. Marcus running up the water to get Wilson to come over (and apparently mentioning that he was walking his dog "Chessica" when he called in an anonymous tip)
  3. Kiki giving Ava the idea to go to the wax museum so she could get Face ID on Deborah's phone to work
  4. Ava calling room service and being OTT perky and cheery: "Do you finish it with whipped cream?" "THEY DO!"
  5. Deborah being annoyed by Perla
  6. Deborah and Ava getting high together
  7. They scare Perla
  8. Ava confides in Deborah about the guy who died and Deborah assures her that it’s not karma
  9. Deborah opens up to her about some of her history and they get to talking about putting that stuff into her act
  10. Deborah goes to see Ava when she’s in the hospital after emergency surgery. When Ava wakes up, Deborah says, “She lives!” and smiles (she seems very maternal there)

Got a call from an orthotics company letting me know my brace is ready (my RC surgery is this week) and they mentioned an out-of-pocket cost. Feeling annoyed that my doctor's office didn't tell me about this earlier?

Hi - so yeah, per subject line, I got a voicemail from an unknown number/No Caller ID earlier today, so I didn't pick up. I got a voice message that they were XYZ Orthotics (not saying the actual name just for privacy). "Doctor abc's office has sent a prescription for a brace for you to have post-operatively. There is an out of pocket of $73.98" And they left a phone number for me to call them so they can collect payment and have it ready.

I kept trying to reach my orthopedic office today and they said they'd leave a message for the physician's assistant since she was the one who had put in the Rx. I just wanted to be able to ask her a few questions. Didn't hear from her but received another call from XYZ Orthotics.

I told them that I had been wanting to speak with the PA (I'm not crazy about how this was handled). The woman at XYZ explained that my insurance does pay part of it (I asked her why didn't they just bill it through the insurance?) but said something about how I first pay and then they submit it.If I understood that right. (She called in my last few minutes at work when I was trying to wrap a few things up at my office, so I guess if I need further clarification I can ask again tomorrow - I told them I'd call them tomorrow)

I also asked her, what if I pay in advance and then I get the brace after surgery (they deliver it to the surgical center after it's paid for) and it doesn't fit right - but then I've already paid for it? She said that is pretty rare, but she also said something about how the surgeon in some cases post-surgery decides that the patient doesn't need a brace after all? And if that's the case, they refund the patient.

I don't know, all of this sounds strange to me but maybe this is routine for all I know. Does this all sound pretty standard to you guys? (Maybe I'm worrying too much)

I like Jessica (Caitlin Reilly)

Physically she reminds me a little of Zosia Mamet and she has a perky energy that reminds me of June Diane Raphael (although JDR's characters are somewhat bitchier).

I know at the moment there is no real plan for a Hacks spinoff, but if there was one, her character is someone I could see on there, interfacing with Jimmy and Kayla and other people at agencies and networks and studios. (It would be fun to see Winnie Landell again too.)

Jimmy in Episode 8

Okay, I know I'm far from the only one who didn't like that Jimmy-working-in-the-mailroom ending. And also, I'm assuming something will happen to elevate him back up.

But, this "twist" doesn't make much sense. Sure, Kayla's father Michael is a real asshole. But, Jimmy is a smart individual. Before agreeing to let Schaefer-LuSaque be immersed in Latitude, wouldn't he have insisted on *some* sort of concession? "We agree to join Latitude but need to retain our manager status and be treated as such". And had them fill out paperwork so they got it in writing. It seems a little too cartoonish for him to get swept up in Latitude but surprise, you no longer have an office or even a desk, you're working in the mailroom!

What if clients call? "Oh Jimmy can't take the call, he's doing another job right now." Surely they wouldn't want clients to learn of his mailroom status. I know the clients can turn to Kayla, but some clients have previously relied on Jimmy (just as Kayla has some clients that call for her specifically)

Again I'm pretty sure this mailroom situation will be resolved but it just seems a little too silly. Would have made more sense if Michael had been like "Well, you're a manager here, but here's your new office (and opens the door to a broom closet or something equally crummy). But still with a desk and computer and office phone and then he'd just arrange to do his in-person client meetings elsewhere.

FMLA paperwork & how much time needed before returning to work?

Hi everyone, finding this sub really helpful. I am getting (arthroscopic) surgery in early June. I have a partial tear (but it's a full-thickness tear) - in my right shoulder. (I'm left-handed, for reference)

I have spoken with HR at my org and started the paperwork for FMLA. At my org, they have employees start with using PTO time. I have enough days to cover being out for slightly more than two weeks, should I need it. A few of those days are already on the work calendar, since I initially (before arranging for surgery) was going to be taking some vacation days, since our fiscal year ends June 30.

I have a desk job - administrative work.

I've been speaking with a coordinator at the orthopedist's office and she said that per the doctor and the physician's assistant, I should be able to work on a computer "within a few days after the surgery while you are in the sling. No lifting heavier than a phone or coffee cup unless with physical therapy for the first few weeks."

I wrote back to her and said that I am hearing that some individuals have a lot of soreness post-surgery and need to ice their arm, which would be too difficult to do at the office. (And when I say some individuals - it's from reading this sub & seeing that some people said it helped them not to go back to work too early, even for desk work!!)

She wrote back and said they can fill out whatever paperwork I need or if I just need a note saying I will be out of work or need to work remotely, they can do that too. (She said it's all in how you feel)

I haven't sent them the FMLA paperwork yet but I notice it asks the medical provider to give a best estimate of the duration of the treatments, including any period of recovery. So, is this where I should ask them to specify that I may need a week or two off, and then add a recommendation for working from home for a limited time?

The orthopedist also said I'd need the sling for 4 weeks (I know it could end up longer). My thinking is that I should arrange to take off at least two weeks where I'm totally not working/just recovering. And then try to get permission for WFH for two weeks after that. (I know that medical accommodations don't usually including commuting considerations, but I live in NYC and it would help to avoid taking the subway and buses during a lot of the time I'm still in the sling, if possible)

Any suggestions for what I should ask the medical provider to say/write, if possible?
