There’s been tons of talk about how dominant of a season Ohtani is having on the mound, but also about how over a long stretch up until recently he has REALLY been struggling at the plate. Dodgers fans know he sort of does this a lot: If you look at his numbers month by month over the past few seasons they fluctuate like CRAZY. He has some TERRIBLE down months basically every season that make it look like he’s one of the worst hitters in the league. The difference this season is that it’s the start of the season, and there really hasn’t been a lot of signs of life to make you think things will get better.

Over his past 6 games:
- .522 average
- .913 slug
- .621 OBP
- 1.534 OPS

Now yes, I get it, it’s a small sample size and some of those games were against mediocre teams. I still think it’s a great sign, feels like an indicator that he CAN be a Cy Young caliber pitcher through a regular season and still be a top 2 hitter in the game (which we all know to be true, but haven’t seen to this extent in a regular season yet). You also may be wondering about his homers being down. Well his slug is still up — .913 is nothing to laugh at.

I wish I could analyze the advanced data, but I just wanna put it out there for those worried about his hitting that he hasn’t “lost it” as many people say. Yes he’s focusing on pitching a lot right now, but he goes through these terrible down stretches at the plate, we gotta remember to stick with him because he always comes back to show us why he’s the GOAT and not just some impressive pitcher who can also kind of hit well.

When we start to get even higher ascension levels, will the currently unascendable champs be at least allowed to be ascended to lower levels? Or will they literally just be completely washed out? At the point where champs are A4, how in the world are unascended champs supposed to compete?

The only difference between that and 8-stats is that they’ve chosen which champs don’t wash out, they’ve given us a set list of champions we have to invest in.
