The PVP problem

I know this topic has been talked to death. I don't care, I'm giving my two cents on the matter.

PVP in Deepwoken is just unfun, flat and simple. The game is so horrifically unbalanced that it makes the game unfun at times, especially for less skilled, new, or PVE players.

Deepwoken's PVP incentivises people to use meta builds, same as any other game. The problem with Deepwoken that other games metas don't usually have, is the fact that unless you're running another meta build, you're likely to get screwed.

Take Archived, for example, another RPG with a permadeath mechanic. While it does have worse perma-death mechanics, the player is only incentivised to do PVP in specific situations. In addition, the combat is relatively balanced enough that the game is usually skill vs skill, rather than build vs build. One player with a build made for PVP can still lose to a skilled player that's still working on theirs, or has theirs for a different purpose.

Deepwoken does not have this. The combat in Deepwoken enables people to run cheesey builds that bring you from full to zero in seconds, filled with nearly-true combos that are hard to get out of or counteract, even with trying to parry and using vents.

In addition, the amount of exploiters running these builds is horrific. The most common exploit, outside of the depths, is the classic autoparry... Which people just don't get banned for, for whatever reason. As long as you don't actively talk about using an autoparry on an exploit software, you're kinda unlikely to get banned or receive any kind of punishment.

This isn't even mentioning voidwalkers. I personally have no problem with the faction existing. It becomes unfair to fight because of the above problems, in addition to it being beneficial for the voidwalker to target someone with an incomplete or PVE build. In addition, there's barely any voidwalker protection. Sure you have to be power 5 to even be a target, however, oftentimes, the people playing voidwalker have much more PvP experience, and will always win against people who don't interact with the PvP scene.

So what does this do? It discourages people from PvP. Imagine you get washed to someone in seconds from a combo that you have to struggle to get out of. What's that gonna do? It's not gonna encourage most people to improve at PvP, it's just gonna cause people to avoid it. You can see this in the community, where the solution to people running at you isn't to fight, it's to log before you can get a combat tag. How horrible does the combat in a game that's half PvP have to be for the main advice being to run away?

And I understand that you have to PvP to improve at it. That's how things are, you need to practice to get better. But how are you meant to practice when you get killed in a matter of seconds, or lose hours of progress to missing a single parry or getting feinted? It just discourages people from interacting with that part of the game, and encourages people running cheese builds to keep doing it.

I get that this post feels like a permafreshie take, and it is (I only have ~320hrs), especially coming from a person that only enjoys the PvE aspect of the game, but if you ask anyone in the discord or this sub about their take on PvP, it's usually the same. Most will tell you the game is unbalanced, unfair, or unfun.

Tl;dr: the current PvP scene is unbalanced and it results in people from being discouraged from interacting with it rather than encouraging them to improve at the PvP, thus deterring people from playing it

Need help deciding what system to purchase

What it says in the title. I'm looking at getting a reliable system to play PS2, PSP, Dreamcast and GCN games well, and maaaaybe Vita.

So far, I've looked into the RP5, RPF2, and the RG Slide. I'm not entirely sure which to get, as I've seen a variety of performance reviews from a bunch of people. Not looking for something too powerful like an Odin or Thor.

I don't need the system to do anything crazy like Switch or PS3 or things like that, just something good that won't make me sob when I look at my bank account afterwards

I hate online shipping culture

Image is a ship because I cba to find an actual ship from a piece of media

I fucking hate shipping culture. I hate the toxicity, I hate the fact that half of the ships on the internet are forced, and shippers can be so fucking annoying

I know this is a chronically online opinion. Most people don't really care about this topic, or don't have any strong feelings on it. Good for you, but good lord I cannot stand internet shipping culture.

Genuinely it's so irritating when people push their personal headcanons as the one true way. It feels like we haven't evolved past fucking 2016 fandom shipping wars. The constant discussion of "hetslop" "yurislop" "yaoislop", ALL ships are slop bro.

People online, especially twitter (I know but it's really not much worse than Reddit) genuinely fiend over their favorite ships like no others. I've seen people there end friendships because they want their favorite fictional character to fuck a different fictional character. Not to mention the selfshipping community, which is another irritating group that falls under this category. People will deadass block each other for this shit.

Anyways, the space is way too toxic, and taken way too seriously by the participants. Do what you want, have fun, but personally, I cannot stand shippers

How do we feel about The Death March?

For context, Ishimoto put together a band to remix and make songs sampling his own work in 2012. Because of this, there are some twewy songs. If you haven't listened to them, I highly recommend it. It's an obscure piece of trivia from an already niche game, and they sound amazing

My friend made a fucking potentialman image of me. Is it over?

For context I just started Limbus (Rodion PFP, another friend made me switch to it as an apology for slandering her).

I'm on SOTC in LoR. I used cheaters toolkit to get 99 pages because like I ain't grinding for allat and it gave me the black silence key page (I have never used it, I want my fights fair)

I also happen to be a district 23 glazer because it has W-Corp (my beloved corporation, I own a hat), Kali and Pierre
