so I’ve been overthinking the ending of Across the Spider-Verse and hit a total brick wall regarding Miles and Gwen's future.

Even if we assume Miguel is totally full of it about "Canon Events" (which he probably is), the actual mechanical rules of the multiverse still stand: if you stay in another dimension for too long, your atoms glitch out and the local reality starts to collapse.

If that rule doesn't magically disappear, Miles and Gwen are basically doomed to the most agonizing, impossible long-distance relationship ever.

Think about how stressful that would actually be. Even with Hobie’s bootleg watch letting them travel back and forth, they’d have a literal digital countdown timer ticking on their wrists every single time they see each other. They could never move in together, share a normal life, or just casually hang out on a weekend without worrying about their bodies ripping apart and melting the neighborhood.
It fits that brutal Spider-Man curse perfectly where saving the world means sacrificing your own personal happiness.

What if they successfully defeat the Spider-Society next year, but their "reward" is just being stuck as digital ghosts in each other's lives, only able to visit for a few hours a week to keep their home worlds from blowing up?
